True! But not me. LOL. I do find the perception from some (nobody here, from people I've met) that assume because you own a class A RV you can afford anything. I am not wealthy by no means, just your average hard working family that has low house payment, aging and has chosen to do the RV thing as opposed to possible second home. So fitting this into are budget is fine but not if it's costing lots more in taxes. Enough of my rant, I truly appreciate all of your input you guys are awesome! Happy RVing everyone, go out and live life!Re: Property tax Ralph Cramden wrote: No matter where you reside you're going to pay it one way or another. Here in PA there is no property tax on RV,s or vehicles, just sales tax on the front end. We do enjoy however one of the highest, if not the highest, fuel taxes in the nation. If you don't like it move somewhere else, you may save a little, you may not. It's the price you pay for having roads to move your RV on, public parks with campgrounds of which most are not self sufficient and depend on general fund dollars, and other infrastructure. Totally understand and have absolutely no issue with taxes. Pay well over 30k a year in Federal taxes so I get it. However, there is a limit to which I feel it becomes excessive and in this case it is. Your right that regardless where you go you will pay some form of taxes which is cool. Just needs to be reasonable. Fortunately the county we live will only charge property tax if you store it here. They have no issue if you store it some place else. Prince William county has no property tax so we will store it there. ThanksRe: Property tax mtofell1 wrote: Micbob4 wrote: It's now $6.55 for every $100 of appraised value. Wow... that's just unimaginable. It's like having a 6.5% loan on the coach forever. Without even exaggerating, I think I'd consider moving. Certainly once I was retired and spending more on a coach. I live here and it shocked me to the point I was ready to back out of RV. But decided they are not stopping my family's dream. Worked to hard.Re: Property tax Bill.Satellite wrote: VA is a serious pain if you own an RV. You don't pay property tax as if it's a house on the ground but you pay Personal Property tax and it is VERY high and VERY expensive. Take a look at the tax tables and you will see just how bad it really is. It's based upon the "book" value of your RV so it only goes down a little every year but it is always VERY expensive. Maybe if you buy a 20 year old coach it won't hurt too much but I seem to remember that it was 3% or 4% of the coach value each year. On a $200,000 coach, that's a lot of money (plus registration). It's now $6.55 for every $100 of appraised value.Re: Property tax Bumpyroad wrote: I thought that counties tax rates varied also. bumpy Your 100% correct. Spotsylvania is horrible on taxes. However found prince William county has no property tax. The property tax applies if you actually store RV in that county. Meaning I can store RV in prince William and show proof it's there and no property tax. So pay storage fee out of county is a lot cheaper then keeping it at home. Soon as I officially retired moving out of Virginia. LOLRe: Property tax KD4UPL wrote: Can't help you on the Class A but my TC has no property tax in VA because it's not considered a vehicle. So, VA is toy friendly to TCs anyway. Great point!! Lol. Your right.Property taxMy fellow Virginia Rv'ers, how rough is the property tax on your class A? Virginia isn't a toy friendly state.Re: Dealer hipower wrote: Micbob4 wrote: wnytaxman wrote: I would be surprised if there was more than a quarter of a point movement in interest rates between now and June. We were quote 3.99% at the Hershey Show but that rate may change between now and our delivery date in March/April. A quarter of a point is not a significant difference. On a $250,000 loan for 20 years, the difference in only about $30 a month. Thanks! Who did you purchase from at Hershey? Our dealer quoted 4.79%. with wife pulling 850 credit score. Shocked me. Lol You have plenty of time before closing, shop for your own financing. I've always been able to beat the dealers quoted rate, even at the same bank they were pushing. We were told by RV one 3.99 and were giving excellent price. Never ran application with them so not sure it would be same. On short-term loans and based on amount being borrowed. We ended up going with new build and really liked dealership. They came very close to RV one price and they were able to get Newmar to upgrade chassis from 22000 to 24000. Overall extremely happy with process. They did give us 4.49Re: Dealer wnytaxman wrote: I would be surprised if there was more than a quarter of a point movement in interest rates between now and June. Now if I don't drive myself nuts watching rates until then. Lol
