All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRoute from Billings to St Mary KOA East GlacierI always look for posts when I am trying to find a route for our fiver and couldn’t find one for Billings to East Glacier that was recent. Things can always change depending on road work. So here I am posting. RV Life seems to be very good at finding us safe routes so far. Took us out Route 3, 191, 87, 15/89 at Great Falls. There was a great diesel stop at Eddys Corner. Road was very good.Re: Northern Vermont to MaineThanks for the feedback. We will stick to route 2 then. Yes we are heading to Cathedral Pines.Re: Trip PlanningSteve, I have many tools in my tool box for trips. I always start with trip wizard. I find it is worth the money and gives me great information for mileage, campgrounds, and routes during the planning stage. It does not have everything but their routing has improved. Once the trip is basically planned,I use google, and various books and apps. Google doesn't do low clearance and route preferences are for automobiles. I find it is a must to have my truckers road atlas book for low clearances, Next Exit for gas and food on interstates, RVPark reviews for CG information and gas buddy for diesel fuel. Hope that helpsNorthern Vermont to MaineTraveling this summer to visit family in Maine. Taking a scenic route up to Newport, Vt and then heading to a CG in Eustis, Maine. Trip routers have me heading up through Canada on 91-143-108-212-27. I was originally planning to go down to route 2 into Maine and then 27 north. We are pulling a 36 ft fiver. Any suggestions or thoughts on this?Re: June trip to explore ColoradoThanks everyone for the helpful advice. Right now I think we still will do an overnight in Great dunes, 3 days in mesa Verde then head north. We have 6 days so deciding how to spend them. I am thinking of stopping around Ooray and then around Montrose for the BCOTG then out 50 to Pueblo and through Kansas on our way home.Re: June trip to explore ColoradoThanks everyone for the advice. I am trying to narrow everything down in the next couple of days. We always prefer off season but are unable to do that this year. so I know I will probably have some trouble. There is a New moon scheduled in June and it would time for The Great Sand dunes. Supposedly they are a dark sky site. We are thinking of braving mosquitos to go anyway. If we plan 3 days at Mesa we can use this for home base to go back to Durango?June trip to explore ColoradoSome help please. We are planning a trip from Virginia to Colorado in June. Towing a 36ft fiver. Plan thus far is to travel the middle of the country as we have not done this camping so far. Heading through Tennessee on I40 to Arkansas to visit relatives then to Santa Fe. Return trip by way of I70 to Kentucky (Mammoth Cave stop) then home. We have Mesa Verde, Great Sand Dunes, and Black Canyon of the Gunnison on our list. We have already been to RMNP. We have 2 weeks to spend in Colorado and prefer more out of the way stops and small towns but still have that NP bucket list(26 so far) I am thinking of a more circular route - Santa Fe - the Dunes- Durango- Gunnison- then out via Pueblo. How much time to spend where is the question? Or should I re think this. Would love to spend more time but we can only be gone for a month until we fully retire. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Info on Fifth wheel towing on these roads would also be appreciated.Re: Maine to VirginiaThanks NCwriter for those tips. I was a little worried about route 2 looking at the map. Glad to hear it is OK as it is the most direct route from Bangor to that area of NH. Will check out those 2 campgrounds-thanks for the tip. Can't wait to get some real maple syrup! I used to go to Newfound lake as a child every summer. Great memories and love NH. We have never spent much time in Vermont so are looking forward to doing that. I use RV park reviews as well and have found them to be very helpful.Maine to VirginiaWe are traveling to Bangor Maine to visit our daughter the end of August. We will have a week to travel back home to Virgina and would like to take the scenic route back through New Hampshire,Vermont and New York as there is family near the Adirondacks also. Used to live in Ct and haven't been back through New England in 30 years. I was looking at coming across route 2 from Bangor, eventually getting to route 4 and then to New York. From the New York stop we will probably just make time to get back to Warrenton, Va. as we have traveled New York and Pa frequently. Any suggestions on routes and campgrounds would be appreciated. We have an inflatable kayak and like to do some paddling, hiking. traveling small towns. We tow a 35 foot Fiver. Not certain as to how those roads are. .
