All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsThank You, we had an awesome trip: Cab Over Repair UpdateCab Over Repair Work Thought I'd let all of you helpful people know that we accomplished the cab over repair. It really didn't take all that long. Granted, we have a gypsy look to our rig but that's fine with us :). Spent 3 amazing weeks traveling from Colorado to Washington, Oregon and Northern California. Had no problems with anything in the RV and no leaks. A Pacific NW trip is a good way to verify leaks! We're selling the RV and will post details on that some time later. In the meantime, this would not have happened with out the encouragement from the posters on here when I was absolutely overwhelmed with the task of repairing the leak over the cab. Even the naysayers were encouraging for me because I needed to prove to myself that buying this RV was the right thing for my family and our budget, so thanks for telling me what a mistake it was because that really motivated me.Re: Colorado to Vancouver Island, Washington, Oregon, ColoradoAny suggestions on where to park the RV for the day in Seattle so we can walk around town?Re: Gas mileage, environmentally friendly remodel Jim Shoe wrote: 1. You live in Colorado. Coast until you get to Florida and then sell it. 2. Travel in a Honda Civic and camp in a tent. 3. Stop calculating gas mileage and making yourself miserable. Actually, selling in FL is a thought we had. I think it'd be the way to go. I'm not getting my hubby back in a tent. Next time, I think I can talk him into a travel trailer!Re: Gas mileage, environmentally friendly remodel Johnny Dearborn wrote: From everything you're saying, are you sure you want a motorhome? Maybe a little travel trailer so you can camp in it is all you need. You'll get way better gas milage at a fraction of the cost. One less vehicle maintain and insure as well. Yeah, well, that's what I wanted but my husband isn't really a roughing it kinda guy. It was a compromise.Re: Colorado to Vancouver Island, Washington, Oregon, Colorado Janss wrote: Welcome to the forum! That will be a great trip. I could not do that much in just 3 weeks. There are several great State parks on the Oregon Coast. Here are a few websites you might want to peruse: www.freecampgrounds.com freecampsites.net www.harvesthosts.com www.uscampgrounds.info Awesome websites! Thanks, I will definitely bookmark these.Re: Colorado to Vancouver Island, Washington, Oregon, Colorado rbrand wrote: Wow that is quite a trip. I'm impressed. It takes me a month to get from Victoria, BC to Palm Springs and another month to find my way home. Yeah, our youngest is in 2nd Grade so we have to get home for that eventually :) The plan is to blast up north then take our time down the coast, across to Ashland, the blast back home.Re: Purchased RV leak over cab, now what? Its4mykids wrote: Bottom line: as long as the framing is structurally sound, a lot can be done for little $$$. Take the inside apart, see what you have, stop the leak, enjoy. Don't be afraid to think "outside the box" when coming up with ideas for the repairs (such as screwing in the delam walls from the exterior side). And - Eternabond is your friend. Yeah, you're right on the money for me. Thanks to you and Jose I'm not going down with this ship yet. It's structurally great and since it poured last night (I'm in Colorado) I've found 2 more leaks so 4 total. I'm really excited to hit HomeDepot tomorrow. Yipee!!Re: Purchased RV leak over cab, now what? Thanks Jose! Appreciate the link. If you look at the one picture I think it's a piece of plywood on the roof. I'm not near the RV right now so I'll have to check that. My outsides don't feel like aluminum? Maybe it is some sort of aluminum w/a coating? Again, thanks for your help.Re: Purchased RV leak over cab, now what? Usagi wrote: I paid $3500 for the R/V. I got it with the idea of being able to get close to the coast then walk the docks on coastal areas so I can look for a sailboat to live on. Unfortunately I had no idea that R/V parks charge outrageous amounts of money, in fact far more than my apartment costs. Hence I'll likely be doing a lot of boon-docking until I get my sailboat. Thoughts? First thought that came to mind was, lucky you get to buy a sailboat, they seem so much easier to fix than these RV's.Colorado to Vancouver Island, Washington, Oregon, ColoradoWe're doing a 3 week loop. Our first trip and planning on basically dry camping. Any recommendations? We're heading to Vancouver island and then down the coast of Wash and Ore and across to Ashland then back home to Colo. We're nature lovers and would love to know of any great biodynamic farms along the way we could stay at. Thanks.
