All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsSaying Good-bye/Scrapping a TTI doubt that many on the forum will remember me, given my near-total absence from RV.Net for over 5 years. For those who do, well, my disappearance is directly linked to the house we bought in late 2017. It was a foreclosure sale and since settlement has consumed equally enormous amounts of our money and our time. Which brings me to the reason for this post.... Our beloved Coachmen Futura has sat idle for over 5 years. It has been covered but that apparently did little or no good. In summary, the awning is shot, the tires are timed out, the LP tanks are likewise out of test and a couple of months back I discovered the floor in the rear of the trailer is soft (and it had already been repaired once at a substantial cost). As if all that were not bad enough, my wife shared that she no longer feels the need to travel with our trailer anymore (we are now in a fairly rural area). So... Has anyone ever taken their trailer to a salvage yard? Or maybe sold one for parts? I would be most appreciative of advice from all angles. And thanks to all who choose to reply.Powercaster, Trailer Valet, et. al. Who uses one?I'd like to hear from anybody who uses a motorized unit such as PowerCaster or Trailer Valet to park their TT. What brand and why? What do you like or not like? All replies welcome and PM me if you wish to avoid flaming. Thank you, all.Re: Newbie heading south...PA15 or US81?Here's my take on the question: Route: If you are already on I-81 heading south, take I-83 south for a bit then Rt. 581 west to Rt 15. Just be aware there is construction on the I-81/I-83 interchange, and pay close attention to signage as it is easy to miss the right-hand ramp to stay on I-83 south. Timing: I've used Rt. 17 to get to I-95 and it is scenic and it's fine if you're not in a hurry. If you need to knock out a lot of miles in a short amount of time, consider timing your travel to pass through in the middle of the night. I just did a trip to Charleston SC to take furniture down to my daughter. I used the above route, leaving here at midnight and was passing Gettysburg at 2 a.m. I stayed on Rt 15 south to Frederick then picked up I-270 to the DC Beltway and then south on I-95. That got me below Fredericksburg well before the morning rush ever started. Just a thought.Re: Good campground close to Penn State? The KOA is our choice when we camp in the area. Nice place. I think you were lucky to book a site - they fill up fast.!*&%^$#@! Awning Will Not Unroll All the WaySo, here we are, less than 12 hours before we are to hit the road - Awning only unrolls about half way, then stops DEAD. No amount of twisting or jiggling will budge it any farther. Will roll up, but not with the same amount of tension it used to have. A & E Awning, manual, not motorized. 17 years old. Tried shooting some solvent in and around ratchet and the center axle. No luck so far. All suggestions welcome, and if we don't have a full awning then we don't have a full awning.......Re: Need 110v side & refrig help, FASTGFCI it was. Thanks, everyone!Re: Need 110v side & refrig help, FAST30 amp rig. Converter IS getting 110v. Thanks for the help so far.Need 110v side & refrig help, FASTNormally I don't post here but I have a problem I could use some help solving. Trailer was plugged in, fan (not A/C) & refrig running (the latter on elec, not gas). Trailer became unplugged - not sure why. Plugged back in. Refrig now does not stay on, neither 110v nor gas. I have no electric to half of my 110v outlets (front half of coach). All other 110v and 12v appliances/lights/fans work. No breakers (110v side) are tripped. Need help ASAP as we are slated to hit the road in a few days. Many thanks.Poplar Bluff, MOAnybody here have suggestions for a good overnight CG in the area? Yes, have already consulted rvparkreviews.com - always like to get information from more than one source.Re: For those going to see EclipseMade my reservations back in November (location not disclosed) and DW always makes sure the chuck wagon is stuffed with food!
