All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: RV WarrantiesI would like again to thank everyone for the replies I got on my warranty subject. I am someone who works on anything and everything, and with google etc.its endless. I had the same ideas but its good to hear from actual RV owners.RV WarrantiesI have never had a travel trailer, always a tent but now wife and me are retired and looking for a used travel trailer. I found out they don't have warranties, even ones that are one year old. So I'm want to know what other RVers do, mainly should get a warranty from GS etc. I've heard that some repairs are very expensive. Thanks for the repliesFirst time towing a TT and wondering about weightI have never towed a TT before so I have a question about the TT weight. I have a 2009 3/4 duramax and am not worried about the power end of it but what I was wondering was, the TT I was looking at has a dry weight of 8400lbs. then you add all the stuff. I don't know how this will feel when I am towing that much weight. Since the weight is behind the truck and not like a 5th wheel I didn't want to have the tail wagging the dog. Maybe this is a non issue but I have never towed before so thanks for the input. Also I will be getting a very good WDH so mention a brand if you want. Thanks againHaving the proper hitchI am about to get a 35ft.TT so I'm checking into what to get as far as the correct hitch for the trailer. I am looking at a TT with a tongue weight of 1150lbs.empty. I have a hitch that came with my truck, the sticker says 15000lbs with a wdh and 1500lbs tw. My question is, does the wdh take away some of the tonque weight. If it didn't I will be close or over the tongue weight and would need a heavier hitch. Any comment on the proper wdh and sway is appreciated. As far as the truck I'm not to worried it is a 3/4 ton duramax.Quality S WDHI am looking at buying a TT 7500# and 1000# TW. I have a quality s wdh that came with my 3 horse trailer, I didn't see any info on it for what it is rated for but it looks very substantial,it has a 2 5/16 ball. Does anyone know much about the hitch? I was wondering if the receiver part with the ball would be heavy duty enough and then get perhaps a Reese Dual Cam for the trailer part. I want the best setup so if this is not a good idea let me know. ThanksRe: Max Pin WeightSome addition information on my truck. Rear tire load rating is 3240lbs.x 2= total 6480lbs. Front axle rating 4800lbs. Front axle load 4160lbs. Rear axle rating 6000lbs. Rear axle load 2760lbs. Also thanks for your information.Max Pin WeightI am one of the many who bought the tow vehicle before the 5th wheel rv. I have a 2009 duramax cc 2500 thinking I could then get anything I wanted,i know now "Not". So here's my question, what max pin weight would you suggest that I could be comfortable with? I know a 3500 would have been the way to go. gcwr 22000 lbs. gvwr 9200 lbs. gw 6900 lbs. this is with a full tank If I got it figured correctly that leaves me with 2300 lbs. for me my wife and 5th wheel hitch and pin weight, I know I will run out of load limit before I reach my rawr. So any rvers so went thru the same thing I would like some feedback.5th wheel pricesI have been looking at 5th wheel rvs in the 30-32 ft range. I have a good idea what the percentage drop is off a new one but not sure what the drop should be on one that is 2-3 yrs old. Thanks for any info I'm sure not everyone buys new.Re: Looking at 5th wheelsThanks to all who replied to my question, all are appreciated.Re: Looking at 5th wheelsThis is a update on my question, Looking at 5vrs. My truck is a 2009 duramax CCSB. The door sticker for gcvw 9200#,it has 3.73 gears, and it weighs approx. 6850# with a half tank of diesel and driver. By the time I add more fuel, another passenger and the hitch it leaves me with 1700# for the pin weight and all the extras I would also be adding.
