I will add that in most overnights like cracker barrel, Walmart or truck stops, you may want to check the area as I do not think they are expecting you to open the slides and "set up". We run the front jacks down to stabilize and lift a little and we will run the bedroom slide out so we have a little more room. We are really only sleeping and on the road again. If I do, I try to make sure I am in a location that no one will walk or drive into the slide. Would not be a good start to the day - Safe travels!Re: New tires for the 5er installedOK the Sailun Part # 8244393 is the same size tire - @ $179.99 but has a lower weight rating - -126 ( 3748 #) http://simpletire.com/sailun-235-85r16-8244393-tires The 5540992 @ $130.99 has a 129 load rating - (4079 #) Both are 14 PR and L (75MPH) speed rating 5540992 has a sidewall spec of TL and the other does not have sidewall rating listed Anyone know what the sidewall spec means? For me - I would pop for the $130 per tire.Re: New tires for the 5er installedSimple Tire chat says both are manufactures with equal rights - Simple Tire has 5540992 for $130.99 per tire http://simpletire.com/catalog/product/108067 Not sure what the other part No is?Re: Fifth Wheel and 2500 Chevy TruckJust a quick add. The advice on pin weight is all good. As far as a 5er, look at the Open Range "LIGHT" models. Nice features and weight is down where you want it. Designed to pull behind a half ton like a F-150. And other lines have "LIGHT" models that are well equiped and the weight is where you want it. Would pull nice with your 2500Re: Fuel cost to drive to Florida. One question - Diesel or Gas? Right now in SC we are under $2/gal for reg. gas and about $2.40 / gal diesel. A little higher in NC and GA. Gas Buddy is a great idea. Both to estimate and to find the best prices on the road! Safe travels!Re: Electric brakesMy suspecion is if the magnets went bad, they would have burnt up and shorted out. You should be able to check for resistance thru the wires and if you do not have a dead short, they should be OK. Have you checked the lead wires to the brakes? Are they burnt or bubbled? That would also give you an indication if the magnets overheated and are damaged. Then that her for a drive. - I like the disconnect idea! I use it!Re: generator questionCheck the internet. I have a 3500/4000 Champion with remote start. Paid $430 delivered. It has the 30 amp RV plug. I tested on our 36 foot Montana and it will run everything including one A/C unit (our 5er has two). The noise is not bad when compared to a duel Honda set up under load. Remost start is great. Get it for the right price!Re: Reese SidewinderI looked at the Reese Sidewinder on the Reese site. Doesn't that put a lot of torque on the frame because of stretching the connecting point further from the frame / pin box? No frame warranty issues? Just wondering?Re: Attention Weight PoliceA little late joining on this, but a couple things caught my eye. I have a 2011 F250 SD pulling a Montana 353RL. I have not weighed it, (planning to) but I figure about 2200 lbs. of hitch weight and I needed the air bags to keep her level. The OP indicated he barely touched the overloads. Not what I have. Second, just for curiosity, where is the fresh water tank on the 5er? Ours is in back so I believe carrying water in the tank helps us. would this help him?
