After talking with the owner and with your help , the starter was purchased at parts-dot-revgroup-dot-com. I am not sure what they sell, New-OEM or aftermarket. That being said I also want to mention that the clicking sound that I am hearing is not the typical battery dead, loose connection to the starter loud clicking. This sound more like a clicking real fast paced Very quiet repetitive device that stays on for 2 or 3 seconds after releasing the button. Does that even make sense? Or is that what these gensets sound like when there is a bad connection, low battery situation? There is a relay hidden behind the panel of the start/stop button, does that have anything to do with it? Also all connections are clean and tight! Thank youNeed some help with a genset Onan 5500 starting issueSo I am working on a friends Pace Arrow 1998 and he brought it to me 3 months ago and the starter would spin but the bendix would not engage. I told him he needed a new starter and I replaced it. It is back now for the same problem but it seems to be a bit different. If you try to start it now, sometimes it engages and starts, or sometimes you just here a repetitive clicking sound, and sometimes it spins without engaging the bendix. Someone had mentioned to me that there was a upgraded starter that solved this problem but now I} can't find it. Or could it be a bad starter relay? After I had replaced the starter the first time it lasted for several trips for them no problem. Did the starter just fail again? Any help would be great! Edit: Onan 5500Re: Help with 1998 Pace Arrow Vision Transfer switchDoug, That 30 amp receptacle is actually wired to https://imgur.com/a/mgYzbCnthis guy! Is it possible they just removed the transfer switch and just tied them together where the switch was. Tomorrow i will have to get in there and look.Re: Help with 1998 Pace Arrow Vision Transfer switchOk this thread is changing direction. Is it O.K. to continue as a lot has been revealed to me? I will explain! If I need to start a new thread let me know! I just talked to the owner again and got some new information, he bought it off the son of a husband and wife who have since passed away. Son knew nothing about it. So basically the new owner knows less. So the problem may have been solved but I am not sure at this point. According to the owner he was instructed to never connect shore power and run gensat at the same time. To me that means that they eliminated the Transfer switch and are running them side by side. Does this make sense? Am I barking up the wrong tree? It is raining cats and dogs here so I wont be able to test til tomorrow or Sat., is this probable? Also...Would having shore power connected affect a "shut down" gensat? Edit: So..."Yes, it shows the 30 amp main transfer box and I would replace it." Doug is this what you mean? Should I reinstall it?Re: Help with 1998 Pace Arrow Vision Transfer switchSo I just got off the phone with the owner that stated the transfer switch was bad. Now armed with new information from this forum, and now knowing that I have been trying to track down a non-existent switch, Here is what he said. The Past few trips were fine but then the genset stopped supplying house with power but shore power worked fine. and that now shore power is sometimes yes sometimes no. His thinking was a faulty, transfer switch. If there is no switch. How is power transferred? Where should I be looking? Faulty breaker? Thank you for your help I really do appreciate it.Re: Help with 1998 Pace Arrow Vision Transfer switchThis guy?Re: Help with 1998 Pace Arrow Vision Transfer switchYou got it! I hope! That is where the shore line is located.Re: Help with 1998 Pace Arrow Vision Transfer switchI may have found one. As someone that knows nothing about RV's, could this be replacing the transfer switch?Re: Help with 1998 Pace Arrow Vision Transfer switch Blackdiamond wrote: In my southwind it is located behind the main breaker box Thank you, and I even got told that by the Manufacturer but, It is not there! I just posted what is behind it. Maybe you can give some insight to this mystery! Here is what is under the fridge!Re: Help with 1998 Pace Arrow Vision Transfer switchSo I am waiting on a response from owner as to what the shore power amperage rating is. I think you are correct Doug, I am adding an album of pics I just made. Enblethen, I pulled some drawers and opened hatches but I just do not see it! It can't be that complicated?!?!:? https://imgur.com/a/ezJ55c0 Here is what is under the fridge!
