My attitude: Why not croak when you're enjoying what you're doing and where you enjoy being? Speaking of Franklin, I will be in the little downtown campground there October 6 and 7. My parents lived near Otto for a few years 40 some years ago. Route between Franklin and Brevard NC I'm planning a trip to Franklin then to Brevard, NC in a 26' class A. RV Parky app shows and provides a route north of US 64 between those two towns. It doesn't even allow 64 to be selected as an option. Might that be an inadvertent omission, or is there a good reason to avoid 64 in a motorhome? Re: Problems with Walmart med transfer Does anyone here use Amazon for meds? Is it more difficult because of no stores like Walmart? Re: Roadside assistance GS failure So, the multiple screw ups that happened in my case were: Not keeping the camper keys on my person. Otherwise, the following chain of events would never had happened. Locking the vehicle without checking for keys. Failure to keep ALL of my camping insurance and roadside assistance info with me, either on my phone or paper copies. This would have avoided my attempted use of useless AAA. Failure to take my phone with me when I exited the camper. Even if I didn't have all my emergency info on it, I could have found workarounds to find the needed help. Failure to understand the terms of my AAA PLUS contract, believing simple lockout provisions would apply to ANY vehicle I was driving. And the clincher: After being a AAA member for many years, having the same vehicle locking system as any other vehicle at the same cost for the locksmith, that I was refused coverage by AAAs hard-nosed, unforgiving policy, aka "fine print". Right. My bad. Re: Roadside assistance GS failure From what I read here, the lines of communications were not made as clear as they should have been to communicate with each other in a timely manner. Eg, wrong, old phone number, not making sure both parties had accurate contact information, location not precise enough. When things get screwed up, there are typically multiple reasons for the snafu. When I locked myself and dogs outside my Class C motorhome at a Pilot station, my phone and roadside assistance information were all inside the camper. I had a AAA premium (or whatever they call the more expensive version). So I borrowed the Pilot cashiers phone and spoke with AAA. They would not help me, even though the locking system on the van was the same as on any Ford pickup truck - because it was a motorhome. Picky b--t--ds. So I paid the hundred bucks to solicit a locksmith on my own dime. I'm switching to Good Sam out of spite. Re: So tell me about your perfect couples travel trailer I would look for a "couples camper" for solo full time use by an old guy. The camper would have the following characteristics: Not longer than 26 to 28' Towable by a 1/2 ton, i.e. not more than 900lb tongue weight loaded BOTH a dinette and reclining theatre seats Queen bed (could be short queen), open on the sides Prefer open bedroom with curtain rather than a scrunched up closed bedroom Slam latches (that leaves out the Grand Design 22mle) Azdel walls Aluminum frame construction Composite flooring; no luan or plywood Full road mode access Rack and pinion slide if wider than 6 feet or so; Schwintek ok for smaller slide Eye level control panel; operable from my phone No oven; substitute convection microwave/air fryer system At least 400 watts of solar with a couple of Battleborn-type lithium batteries Enclosed wet bay with switchable city/tank water 12 volt fridge, 10 cu ft Min. 15k btu AC 30 amp AC input near front of the coach for convenient hookup from the tow vehicle bed Auto leveling system 360 degree camera system Goodyear tires with TPMS Torsion suspension 2 or 3 years old for less than $30k The Grand Design Imagine 22MLE, the Keystone Cougar 22MLS, Keystone Bullet 2220ML, Coachmen Northern Spirit Ultra Lite 2252MD, and Jayco Jay Feather 21MML each have some combination of most of these features, but none have all.
