I have 6000 miles on my 2015 Winnebago travel trailer that has self-lubing wheel hubs. I have never had them lubricated.Re: RMNPProbably right after school stops, but check with the park to see if Trail Ridge Road is open before you leave. They have had a lot of snow in the Rockies this year and access to that road may be late.Re: Thor Compass 2017There is basically no difference other than the graphics. I looked at Thor products this past weekend and after what I saw, wrote Thor off of my list. Glaring quality issues in the cab of all 4 Axis products I looked at. Brand new vehicles with paneling patched and not cut properly leaving big gaps between the edge of windows and the walls. I said to the salesman, "If they can send out a product from the factory with such obvious flaws, what the heck is hidden that the customer cannot see?" Quality control seemed to be absent. I am going back to Winnebago where I know they have quality control, use lasers to cut panel walls, and can be trusted. Don't get caught up with all of the smoke and mirrors, look for the quality of the build, make sure the walls are constructed of metal framing, not wood, seems are welded correctly, you have side access to the generator (not under the back of the vehicle like in the Compass), screws have not fallen out of cabinets etc. Take your time to inspect heavily.Re: US Route 36 across Kansas & US Route 34 ColoradoThank you for your comments and suggestions, especially Busskipper. This is not my first trip to RMNP, but I have never been to Boyd Lake. I saw it on an RV bloggers post in the past and it looked to be a really nice for a couple of days. When you ask?, probably mid June, maybe Trail Ridge Road will be open, but if it is not, that's okay.Re: US Route 36 across Kansas & US Route 34 Colorado 4runnerguy wrote: As an aside, I wouldn't use Boyd Lake SP as a base to explore RMNP. Just too far every day. I don't plan to.US Route 36 across Kansas & US Route 34 ColoradoHas anyone traveled these routes from St Joe, Missouri to Loveland, CO? I am in trip planning mode to Boyd Lake State Park, CO and RMNP. and was wondering what this road is like rather than traveling I-70. Is it 2 lane? It is heavily traveled by trucks? I guess it is as flat as can be in the mid west, but is it in anyway scenic? Plenty of gas stations? Points of interest? Any comments on the state park are welcomed. Thanks for your helpRe: Thor Gemini QuestionsI have ruled out this unit for several reasons. The main being that you have to crawl under the rear of the RV to get to the generator. There is no side access so I can imagine it would be a bit of a problem to check and change the generator's oil. It was also too cramped for the money. A 22 foot class C is a much better bargain for a lot less.Thor Gemini QuestionsI am considering this vehicle for purchase. Can I hear from others who have bought this RV? Most importantly, what do you not like about it as I can easily see what I do like about it. I have never had a diesel so how is it for power, especially for mountain climbs? Gas mileage? What is DEF and how often do you have to add DEF? Thanks.Re: Copper canyon rail tripAre you sure it is still in use? I thought that I had read years ago that it was stopped. I haven't seen anyone write about the Mexican railroad trip in years.Re: Class C, purchaseI have had two Winnebago products and I am very happy with both. Very good/tight units and well thought out. They also manufacture their own materials so you can always get parts. I had the corner of a couch material split because someone used it as a foot stool to get to a cabinet. They sent the replacement material and the dealer reinstalled it under warranty with no questions asked.
