All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsClass A-what year is it?So, as most of you probably know, a typical class A has a VIN or chassis number and the house portion of the motor home has a serial number assigned to it by your manufacturer. What determines the year of a motorhome? Chassis or serial number. So, in this example your coach is a Forest River Georgetown and has a 2012 Ford VIN but was built say in late 2013 by Forest River. So, is your coach a 2012 (VIN) OR A 2013 (house portion) and who decides? If you purchased it as 2013 is it a 2013 or 2012 as indicated by the 10th digit of the Zaza VIN? What would you personally do if you bought it as a 2013 but either your bank or insurance company says it is 2012? Thoughts?Re: Beaver Patriot house batteriesFollow-up: Decided to go with the smaller batteries for cost and application reasons, we don't have a lot of time when we aren't plugged in (full timers) and also have an Onan 10k generator so this transition was mostly for the cooler overnights where heat (aqua hot) was needed and we didn't need to run the ac's. Installation was a snap, they are not quite as tall but fit the footprint of the battery compartment just fine. Made a test run of the batteries after installation for a little while before plugging back in and had enough power to run the residential refer for a bit and the inverter didn't trip off in 5 minutes like it had been because of the low battery voltage that showed up within minutes of going on inverter panel due to the age of the old batteries. Those old Lifeline's we quite heavy, even the Insterstates were about 63 pounds each. So, after changing my inverter settings, i was good to go after plugged in and charging overnight and they are now float charging at 13.4 volts. Hoping the capacity will work for us and these set of batteries takes us a couple years without any troubles. GC2-HD-AGM Interstate Battery specs/ea 475 Reserve Capacity (RC)@25 Amps 210 Amp Hours (AH)@20 HrRe: Beaver Patriot house batteriesSmitty, I have 1600 amp hours available, 4 batts. I agree on having insurance, but we battery most for 8hrs or less. Was hoping to maybe find an in between AGM 6v battery and work with that.you mentioned 230 a/h..that sound like a good alternative. Just have to measure to see about doing 4. Where would I find These?Re: Electric flush toilet suggestion to replace obsolete Dometic jorbill2or wrote: Thetford 19766 is an electric flush ( push button non macerator) that was recommended to me and I almost bought and installed before I was able to repair my out of manufacture sealand magnum opus electric flush. The bad news is it’s not cheap ( 700$) and non of the electrics are , but if momma ain’t happy ... Simple bolt down , connect water line and 12 volt power. If you have a electric flush now it’s easy .. easier than repairing it. That's exactly what do am looking for! I looked online at the 4410 line up of non-macerator electric flush toilets and thought about them. I like the Thetford you mentioned as the switch and toilet are as one and don't have to wire and install a remote switch to operate the toilet going under tile and behind wallsRe: Beaver Patriot house batteriesBTW, the compartment the batteries are in is not ventilated other than gasket leaks around the doorRe: Beaver Patriot house batteries jplante4 wrote: pianotuna wrote: It is SUCH fun to top up the battery bank while laying in the snow. NOT! 2oldman wrote: Lower cost usually gets you into wet batteries, which require watering. Or for $50 you could get THIS. Squeeze bulb sold separately. How stupid is that? I currently have (4) Lifeline model GPL-L16T.AGM. I can top off wet cells but I wonder if that outgassing will cause corrosion in the compartment and to other metal objects in the area. I'd live to be able to go to my Interstate retailer, order battery model type xx of yy amp hrs. I'm thinking the Same AGM probably be the best suited. In addition if I buy locally if I have a problem warranty assistance as much as easier Your thoughts...?Re: Electric flush toilet suggestion to replace obsolete Dometic rvsatek wrote: Whoever told you parts are not available is lying or misinformed. Toilet bolts are the same or there are adapter kits. Lol Dometic were the ones who told me. No parts available/out of productionRe: Beaver Patriot house batteries pianotuna wrote: L-16 format? Have you tried reconditioning? What is the l-16 battery? By reconditioning do you mean equalizing? Sorry, my last fifth wheel had 4-6v batteries to run my residential refer off the inverter. Quite a bit less expensive the Lifeline AGM batteries at 400/ah. Please adviseRe: Beaver Patriot house batteries jplante4 wrote: I would stay with the 4-6 volt jars. Interstates run around $150 each. I've seen Trojan T-105s for less than $100 but I was suspicious. Mmmm, the 6v Interstate battery price I was quoted an approx $350.00/we. What capacity are the $150.00 batteries?Chassis Air Bags replacementRear airbags in our 2008 Beaver Patriot Thunder are leaking as we can hear a whistling noise and see cracks in the rear airbags. We know they need to be replaced but are trying to minimize the inconvenience since we are full-timers. Does anyone have a recommendation in the DFW area that you could refer us to for reasonable repairs costs and a quick turnaround service. We are open to anywhere within a hundred-mile radius or even a mobile repair center if you have a recommendation for us. Has anyone had this work done before? You remember what the cost were? I can see two air bags that need replacement and was wondering about a ballpark figure for parts and installation. If you could give me your recommendation I would love to hear it. Thank you for your help and happy camping.
