Cruise Control is a must for me.Cruise Control DownshiftingI have a 31' Minnie Winnie on a E450 chassis and I question rather or not the Cruise Control can be adjusted somehow as to not down shift when going up the slightest hill. This usually scares the bejesus out of me and I would expect not good for the MPG and transmission. I understand this happens to maintain speed, but I would be willing to sacrifice a couple of miles per hour to keep from what I feel is a somewhat violent manuver. My previous class A with a Ford F53, seemed a bit more resonable sacrificing MPH before the downshift.Re: Michelin tire blow out!!I had a similar issue with BF Goodrich tires which I believe our same company as Michelin. On a trip from South Florida to West Virginia I had FOUR blowouts. BF. Goodrich customer support was convinced I was overloaded but because the tires were recalled I was reimbursted my exspenses. Since that last trip I have been aware of my weight taking advantage of the CAT. scales at the truck stops. Much to my surprise it's easier to go over GVWR than I had ever imagined.Re: Question about tire ratingMich F.. thanks for the link to load rating chart! As I described in my earlier text, I don't feel like I went overboard on cargo and this is a new rig so haven't had time to accumulate much stuff. Although I will take your advise and light up the load as much as possible I think my strategy will be to try and shift the weight forwatd a bit. I have learned a lot already as a member of this forum. Thanks to everyone.Re: Question about tire ratingInside the driver door frame the recommended tire pressure is 65 front 80 rear. If I am operating at Max GAWR in front, should I increase tire pressure to 80 psi for the front tires even though manufacture recommends 65?Question about tire ratingMy rear tires are rated@ single 2680lbs or dual 2470 ( branded on sidewall). I assume since the rear axle is dual, the total weight the tires could Carry would be 2470 X 4 or 9880lbs Anyone?Re: Class C Overloaded? My first motorhome was a class A, 1996 Itasca Suncruiser. I never weighed the coach or ever considered I was anywhere close to GVWR. I mean cmon with all that room for storage...l made a trip last summer and had FOUR blow outs!!!! Which also caused significant damage. When I got home and went to get new tires the salesman told me about a recall on the BF Goodrich commercial TA s. I ended up getting new tires all the way around at no cost. But the folks at BF. GOODRICH all said the coach must of been overloaded. Of course I didn't believe them because of the recall. The moral Of this story is the importance of good tires. And don't let the salesman pick your tires. Do your homework! was the Motorhome overloaded? I'll never know... soldRe: Class C Overloaded? The CAT actual numbers: Steer Axle 4620 Drive Axle 9980 GAWR Front 4600 Rear 9460 The other question I had is.... My rear tires are rated@ single 2680lbs or dual 2470. I assume since the rear axle is dual, the total weight the tires could Carrie would be 2470 X 4 or 9880lbs. So not only was the back axle overloaded, so were the rear tires. A dealer I spoke with once while looking at a travel trailer suggested you should stay at 80% of Max weight. I can't see how this would be possible unless the kids and the dog stayed home.Re: Class C Overloaded? The CAT actual numbers: Steer Axle 4620 Drive Axle 9980 GAWR Front 4600 Rear 9460 The other question I had is.... On our first trip we decided to go to fort wildernesses for the weekend. So we loaded up 5 bicycles on the back rack, three adults and 2 kids. Enough food and drink for the weekend. The fuel tank and propane topped off. Knowing we were going to a full hook up camp ground I left the water tank empty. I did however wanted to treat the black and grey tanks so they were about one third full. Thought it might be a good idea to stop at the CAT scales for a weigh in and much to my surprise. We were 400 lbs OVER GVWR !!!!! We are average size people and I don't think we loaded excessively. Any one else have these issues?
