The 30' 1995 Winnebago Adventurer came with solar power setup, consisting of 4 100W solar panels and a PWM controller. I was wondering, would it be worth it to upgrade the PWM to an MPPT controller? I was thinking we'll probably want to install more panels, depending on how it goes out there. Thanks! JohnnyStabilizer jack recommendations?Hello! Our 1995 30' Winnebago Adventurer doesn't have any stabilizing jacks, which looking through the forum, seems to be a rarity in Class A motorhomes. We don't quite have the money to get a fancy hydraulic system, and I wasn't sure how stable those regular jacks are that bolt on to the frame and wind down. Not to mention, they look kind of odd on the pictures I've seen. Do y'all have any recommendations on some stabilizer jacks? It'd be nice to walk out of the RV without that "I just stepped off of a boat" feeling. lol! Thanks, JohnnyBattery banks - possible short?Hello! I'm looking at getting something to keep the engine battery charged, since apparently the older RV's like mine (30' 1995 Winnebago Adventurer with a Chevy engine) have a drain on them. I found this, which seems like it might do the "trick" (lol) - http://lslproducts.net/TLSPage.html. I'm worried, though, because using my multimeter - it read zero resistance between the positive terminal on the engine battery and the positive terminal on the house battery. That shouldn't be, right? Of course the negative terminals show zero resistance, because it's a common ground. Is there somewhere in particular that I should look for a short? Still - they're both reading separate voltages. The engine's really low right now (reason for the charger), but the house, which charges through shore power, is tip-top. Suggestions? Thanks! JohnnySolar setup input?Hello! Thanks for all of your input; reading through these forums helps a lot. We got a '95 Winnebago Adventurer that already had a 400W system installed - 4 100W panels wired up to a PWM controller wired up to a bank of two batteries. First of all, I'm looking at upgrading the controller to an MPPT. Looking at online reviews (and a budget of around $200), it looks like the Renogy Rover 40A MPPT controller has the best reviews. Anyone here have some input on that? Secondly, I'm looking at all the wiring, and noticing that it's all 12 gauge wire. I'm wondering if that's heavy enough for a 400W system? I really don't know if we'll wind up putting in another panel or two. Would you recommend I upgrade all the wiring to 10 gauge? Or possibly 8? Also, would I be correct in assuming that the wiring between the panels, the controller, and the batteries should all be the same size? Thank you!Re: Generator putting out 18 Hz?Cool, thanks, everyone! That definitely helps, I'll start looking at those tomorrow. I thought I posted the model, but I guess not. darsben1 got me, though, Thanks! It's a Onan Emerald Plus 4000 (GBE-k).Generator putting out 18 Hz?Hello again! Man, I've been running down one problem after the next on this old generator we have. I finally got it running after a no-start and then a broken fuel line. Still need to fix the muffler. But now this: I got the generator running and hooked up, with power going to the RV. It wouldn't run our AC, though, so I hooked up our surge protector that reads the voltage and frequency and all that. It says 102 V, 18 Hz. What could that possibly be? Maybe one side of the AC is dead? I checked the connections at the box, they look good. Could it be the brushes? I'm starting to wonder if I should just start budgeting for a new generator. lol Again, your help is really appreciated. Thanks!Onan Generator muffler?Hello! Would anyone know where I can find a muffler for an Onan Emerald Plus 4000 generator (GBE-k)? I'm having difficulty finding a part number. 155-1258 looks close, but the one I have doesn't have a pipe sticking out of the side. I haven't been able to find anything closer, though. Thanks!Re: Onan Emerald Plus 4000 won't startThanks, everyone! I think it was the battery. I plugged the RV into shore power, and was able to get it to turn over. A second problem was that it wasn't getting fuel - I found a break in one of the fuel lines, and that fixed the problem. It's running great now, with one exception - there's a hole in the muffler, and I'm thinking that's probably the reason for the loud backfire when I shut it off. Would that be a good assumption? Would anyone know where I can find a muffler for it? I'm having difficulty finding a part number. 155-1258 looks close, but the one I have doesn't have a pipe sticking out of the side. I haven't been able to find anything closer, though.Re: Onan Emerald Plus 4000 won't startI just replaced the starter battery. I'm thinking that's the battery that starts the generator, too? Or am I wrong on that? I'll try the connections next. I haven't tested the voltage at the starter yet.Re: Onan Emerald Plus 4000 won't startAlso, I made a video of it with my phone, and I was gonna post it, but not sure how to do that on here. Lol
