I visited our local dealer who has several dealerships around the country and he had many 34pa's but only one on the 26000lb chassis and it's nowhere near where I am. I was told that the 26000lb chassis became standard very recently so they will not be building anymore on the 24000lb one. Cargo carrying capacity on the smaller 24000lb chassis is less than I have now. If your considering this coach new or used I suggest you pay extra attention to the GVW and look at the placard itself on the door to confirm it. Since two different GVW's have been offered on this coach the seller may be mistaken about which is on that particular coach.Re: About to Purchase 2018 Tiffin Allegro 34PAOkay, thanks for all of your good help everybody. I may make the move tomorrow after sleeping on it one more night. Really helps to hear from folks who already have the experience. A diesel is out of the question for me due to the costs and additional complexity. I'll make sure to get the 26000 pound capacity.Re: Drop Hitch recomendationsLast year I had my motorhome weighed on all four points by a RV safety organization (RVSEF I think). I learned that the 8" Blue OX drop I am using is rated at 5000 pounds but many of the competitor drops are rated at 2500 pounds so recommend you be careful to know the rating of your drop whatever it is.Re: Storage QuestionI'm no expert but I was told not to store my motorhome with the jacks down. Apparently if exposed to the air long enough the jack rods can develop a rust coating which can destroy the seals when they are raised and cause hydraulic fluid leaks. I plan to replace my tires every 5-7 years anyway.About to Purchase 2018 Tiffin Allegro 34PAI have a 2015 Sunstar 27n that I am thinking about trading for a 2018 Tiffin Allegro 34PA. The Ford chassis has been sufficient for my 27 footer but I wonder about this 34 footer. Ford introduced a six speed tranny in 2016 and I guess detuned the engine from 362 to 320 horsepower but apparently increased the torque slightly. Having a 2015 I don't know what this did to performance. Does anyone have any experience with the pre 2016 powertrain and the post 2018 one? Can someone tell me if the horsepower reduction is made up for by the 6 versus 5 speed transmission? Also, does anyone know how the late model 34PA's perform? I would really appreciate any thoughts on this.Re: Transfer switchThe transfer switch was the first warranty repair on my 2015 Itasca when it was new. One or more wires was not tightened enough at the factory causing wires to come loose and touch. The insulation burned off two wires and smoked up part of the campground. The generator supplied power but no power when plugged in. The dealer replaced the switch and all has been well since. Be careful since the generator power also runs through this (possibly damaged) switch. Might be best to shut the whole thing down and let a qualified dealer handle this one unless you have electrical training. Just a suggestion.Re: I77 From Columbia SC to Charleston WVOkay, thanks everybody it helps to hear from people who have actually done this before doing it for the first time. Feel much better now and looking forward to the beautiful drive. I have some time so I think I'll adjust my schedule on the weather as much as possible since who knows if I'll get to see it again.Re: I77 From Columbia SC to Charleston WVOkay thanks, Rick. Anyone else have any experiences with the Ford F53 along this stretch?I77 From Columbia SC to Charleston WVI am planning a trip home from Myrtle Beach SC to Kalamazoo MI. Never been on I77 with my gas class a before. I have a 2015 F53 chassis on a 29 foot class a and pull a small toad. Does anyone have any recent experience with the grades on this route? Any thoughts on areas to avoid?Re: Tire Pressure Monitoring System QuestionI'll give it a try. Harder to add air when necessary but less to go wrong. I like it.
