I did take it to the dealer for service. In fact it was scheduled to go in the following week for a recall on the axle nut. Something like checking the torque on the rear axle nut. I called and told him about the fluid and he said to bring it in right away and they would take a look at it. Glad I did.. They said the failure wasn’t related to the recall So...your rear hub was loose and leaking oil, and it ruined the differential...... but it had nothing to do with the recall to check the spindle nut torque? Granted, the story has obviously got multiple layers of getting passed along from the tech, to the service advisor, then your words.... My guess is that it was direct result. I'm certainly no mechanic, but I was thinking along the same line you were that there had to be a correlation? I was told that if it was a loose axle nut the gear oil would have been all over the outside of the wheel, not the inside? But like I said, I'm no mechanic. Once I get the truck back and talk with the service guy again and see the paperwork, I'll update this too. The nut sets the bearing preload, the axle shaft its itself seals that outer area from gear oil leaking out, it would most certainly leak at the hub seal and inside the wheel with the nut loose. Sounds like the service write is either ill informed or just diverting to make it seem like they were separate issues.Re: Need new rear axle and differential 2500HD GMC***UPDATE*** rtreptow7 wrote: Thanks. If they are replacing the whole assembly it probably ran long enough that it chewed up the bearing surface on the spindle some. If the dealer tech is competent, gear setup is 100% a non issue. If they are replacing the entire assembly....the lube tech should be able to do that without screwing it up.Re: Another Mattress ThreadThis is all good info guys, I get the denvers @ wholesale delivered, they also have a 5% back credit if I order before August third. Honestly, knowing what we spent on our Sealy, when I looked at the price range of the stuff in my distributors system I was pretty complacent about the price range from top to bottom. I'm not afraid to spend, but I don't want to spend bad money over good either.Re: Have I misunderstood the Verizon unlimited planWe use Verizon as our home internet, I have a tablet that I hot spot off of, and my wife uses the MIFI box. Data on my phone is unlimited, but mobile hot spot Data on our plan is limited to 10gb per device then that device gets slowed down.Re: 2012 Duramax delete BurbMan wrote: Thanks for some facts on the inspection process, the state website wasn't entirely clear on how it worked. Sounds like the OP should consider a road trip to Utica....they still make Utica Club? Yes they do, its actually become more popular in probably the past 10 years. It became kind of trendy cheap bear of sorts. I don't mind it, but its definitely not my go to. I grew up walking to school suffering through the early morning stink of the brewery.Re: DIC ReprogramThe tire size is not programmed into the IPC, ( Instrument panel cluster), I would GUESS incorrect tires size or possible previous aftermarket tuner. Tire size data is in the ECM. I don't know if the dealer tool has a function for modifying that. I'm inclined to think not. The MPG and gallons used may never be 100% spot on, the speedometer should be correctable.Re: DIC ReprogramAny independent shop thats halfway up with the times should be able to program a Cluster. What are you trying to accomplish?Re: Concerns about purchasing GM Diesel Truck ksss wrote: I agree on the headgaskets, that is an easy test that any tech should be able to accomplish. The LLY overheating issues are a simple fix. Certainly nothing compared to the issues with the 6.0/6.4. I had my 06 LBZ tuned for an exhaust brake and it is great, not as effective as what is in the newer trucks but effective never the less. I would disagree with it being less effective than the newer stuff, other than the difference in functionality as far as being able to use it without being in Tow/Haul on the 2011 up trucks. As far as "testing" the headgaskets, its fine and well if they are still good, but the problem in every truck built up to 12/05 have the old style gasket that will eventually fail.Another Mattress ThreadSo, after searching and sifting through the results, I'm no further ahead in my quest for a replacement mattress for my camper. My wife has been having trouble with the 7" thick mattress that I can only assume came new in our 2009 Keystone Sprinter. We sleep on a relatively expensive Sealy (or at least I thought it was pricey). I'm not afraid to spend a few bucks on something decent, But I don't want to cough up several hundred to 1000 dollars for a mistake either. Does anyone have any experience with the Denver Mattress/Lippert stuff? I need a short queen, so hitting a mattress store probably isn't gonna work, and with my law out we are 110% stuck with a short queen.
