He says it is possible but is not ready for production into the market yet. He is still working through some issues, but I am not familiar with what those issues are. His name is Jack Mayer and he has his hands in various RV related fields. He recently started a company called RVHLifestyles. I would contact him to see where he is at with his project.Re: winegard travler shaw to direct tvThe direct TV head (dish and LNB) is heavier than a Dish Network head. I am not that familiar with Shaw in Canada, but I think the head is comparable to Dish Network. A Direct TV Trav’ler head can be changed out to a Dish Network head, but you can’t go the other direction. The reason for this is the weight of the head and the construction of the lifting mechanisms (motors) on the two different Trav’ler configurations. The Direct TV Trav’ler has a stronger lift mechanism than the Dish Network Trav’ler does to support the extra weight of the Direct TV head. This is why the Direct TV version of the Trav’ler always costs more than the Dish Network version does. You can purchase a Direct TV to Dish Network conversion kit for a Direct TV Trav’ler, but there is no such conversion kit to go from Dish Network to Direct TV because of what I described above. If I am correct that the Shaw head is equivalent in size/weight to a Dish Network head, then you will not be able to switch to Direct TV with your Shaw Trav'ler base.Re: Leveling Pickup bed to the hitch railsI used 3/4” plywood cut to fit around the rails and the contour of the bed. I then laid the standard bed mat over top of that. It took two 4x8 sheets to do it. By laying them sideways and cutting them to fit, it allowed me to go the full width of the bed in front and behind the wheel wells (if that makes sense).Re: My Inverter Install SoundGuy wrote: Hate to be a Debbie Downer but there's no way I'd mount any electrical device, especially in inverter, in the same closed compartment right beside a set of flooded batteries that during normal operation produce potentially explosive hydrogen gas. :E What sound guy said is correct. The inverter should not be in the same box as the flooded batteries. It is an explosion hazard. Your outlet also needs to be covered and protected from weather/etc. It should be a GFCI outlet with proper cover on the exterior like that.Re: Bought an endoscope camera for my iPhoneI bought the same one a while back. It doesn't get used very often, but it is handy to have laying around when you need it.Re: For anyone wanting a 350 watt pure sine wave VictronVictron is a high end manufacturer from Germany that got its name in the yachting industry and is now moving into the RV market. I am not specifically familiar with this particular inverter, but I am familiar with many of their other products and I can highly recommend Victron as a company. It would appear this is an excellent buy.Re: towing behind fifth wheel camperI have done both ways described above. I prefer the method of coming back from the junction box at the pinbox. It requires more wire, but you aren’t splicing into existing wires that might cause other issues. You also want to make sure the hitch you have at the back of the 5er is properly mounted and sturdily built. It not only needs to support whatever you are towing, but it also needs to be built so that it doesn’t over stress the 5th wheel frame. There are a lot of side forces acting on the 5er frame when turning due to the typical long overhang behind most 5er axles.Re: Santa Rosa, CACasini Ranch Family Campground is another option. It is west of Santa Rosa on River Road in Duncan Mills along the Russian River. We stay there fairly regularly and will be there this weekend. Cloverdale north of Santa Rosa also has a KOA. Rohnert Park and Windsor have small commercial RV parks that have a lot of full timers in them, but rent spaces for travelers. I can’t think of the names of them off the top of my head, but a quick google search should bring them up. The fairgrounds RV Park is fairly full these days with workers and displaced home owners from the fires, but they should have a few open spots for travelers. If you want to be in Santa Rosa, it is pretty much your only option with a larger size rig. If your rig is small enough, you could also try Spring Lake Park on the east side of Santa Rosa. I can’t remember if they have hookups though.Re: Wiring existing 110 outlet to inverter.I have both a whole house inverter and a dedicated inverter for my refrigerator. I installed a Magnum Energy 15 amp transfer switch for the small inverter so it could supply power to the refrigerator outlet or main power could pass through and supply power to the same outlet. In my opinion it is easier than running a whole new circuit. The transfer switch will get installed next to or behind the main power panel. The existing wire from the breaker controlling the refrigerator circuit will get moved from the main power panel to the transfer switch. A new short jumper wire will be added between the transfer switch and the circuit breaker from which you just removed the wire. Then plug the transfer switch into the inverter (this may require an extension cord depending on where your inverter is located). By doing it this way, there is no need to fish new wire to the back of the refrigerator and no need to move the refrigerator plug between receptacles depending on which power source you want to use. The only thing that has to be fished is the extension cord between the transfer switch and the built in receptacle on the inverter. Here is the transfer switch I used: http://www.magnum-dimensions.com/sites/default/files/MagDocs/64-0064-Rev-A-CSW-TS15-Web.pdfRe: Mountainview Road from Boonville to ManchesterNo, not in the least bit. Do not even try it. I think Manchester KOA even has a warning on their website not to use that road. I have ridden it on my motorcycle multiple times. I would not consider taking anything larger than a pickup on that road. A large portion of it would be no problem, but there are sections that would be impossible with an RV or a trailer. Stay on 128 all the way out to Highway 1. Depending on where you are coming from, you can get off Highway 101 at either Highway 128 or Highway 253 to get to Boonville. Both roads are small two lane roads, but are passable by large rigs (I tow my 42’ 5er over both of them).
