I recognized that the seat sitting position was low and uncomfortable but I thought I would get accustomed to the sitting position. But I have remained very unhappy with position of the seat in my new truck. I purchased a driver's seat lift kit for my 2015 2500HD from Seat-Solutions on Ebay. This is a major improvement for the seating postion of the manual driver's seat. The kit is very good quality powder coated steel and was very easy to install. I am really happy that Seat-Solutions started building a seat lift kit for the new trucks. The kit raises the seat 1 5/8" which is the same lift the electric seat provides. The difference in the comfort of the higher seat position is amazing. This is one of the best upgrades I have ever done to a truck. I have no affiliation with Seat-Solutions. I am just a happy customer.Re: 2015 Chevy 3500HD 6.0 ordered today.I just traded my 2012 2500 CC 4X4 with the 6.0 with a 3.73 for a 2015 2500 CC 4X4 with the 6.0 and a 4.10. You will be amazed at how quiet the 2015 as compared to your 2012. Many nice improvements for 2015. I am sure you will be very happy with the truck.Re: average GPM concerns patnchris wrote: I find this very interesting. I am towing the trailer in my sig. It is around 7800 -8500 lbs. I tow with a 2007 F150HD, 5.4. 373 gear. I tow with OD off at around 65 mph and almost never use cruise. In approx 6000 miles towing, over the last two years, I am averaging right at 10 mpg. I did switch all lubes to synthetic, but wouldn't think it would make that much difference. Is it possible that keeping the 5.4 closer to it's power band makes a difference. Usually runs around 2500 rpm. Have you checked to make sure your odometer is accurate? I check my odometer using the mile markers on the interstate. I once had a new Chevy that had an odometer that logged more miles than I had actually traveled. I thought I was getting great gas miles until I figured out the odometer was not correct. It appeared to be setup for a truck with 17" tires and my truck came with 16" tires.Re: average GPM concernsI had that same truck until 2008. Pulling a 4500# camper I usually got 8.5 to 9.0 mpg. I would expect less pulling a 5th wheel with that truck.Re: GM 2500 manufacture date monkey44 wrote: I wonder if camper mirrors are configured differently ?? I find the height of the mirror blocks my view of the cross-traffic on street driving. If it were a bit lower, we could see over it -- as it sits now, it requires wiggling the eyes around it to watch traffic. I'd like to see it flipped, where it was a bit lower. Then, we could easily see over it, AND it would give a lower, clear shot along side the truck... Anyone else notice this ? Yes. I bought a 2015 built in July without electric seats. My 2012 had electric seats. In my 2012 I would elevate the electric seat all the way up in order to see over the towing mirrors. With my 2015 the seats won't raise, so I need to "rubber-neck" around in order to see past the blind spots caused by the tow mirrors.Re: 1st reports on the new 2015 GM p/u's MM49 wrote: I really don't understand why any of these trucks would be considered when the RAM 6.4l 2500 is available? MM49 We probably all feel the same way about the particular truck we decided to buy. I picked he Chevy 2500HD because it appealed to me more than any other truck. RAM is better for you, Silverado is better for me.Re: 1st reports on the new 2015 GM p/u'sI traded my 2012 2500HD for a 2015 2500HD with same setup except 2012 model had a 3.73 diff and Goodyear tires, 2015 has 4.10 diff and Michelin tires. 6.0 CC 4X4 LT. Right out of the box the 2015 gets better mpg by 1 mpg. 9.5 towing over a 500 mile trip vs. 8.5 on the same 500 miles with same rig and load. New one gets 15.5 mpg on the highway with no load. Old truck got 14.5 mpg on highway with no load. My experience with the 6.0 is that it mpg will improve around 25,000 miles. MPG calculations were done by hand and odometer was checked against mile markers on the interstate. The programing for grade braking does not seem to be as aggressive as the 2012 model. Torque management seems to be a little more aggressive in the 2015. The 2015 is much quieter in the cab. I did not get all the bells and whistles so I can't give any idea about all the high tech stuff. The dash controls are positioned better than in the old truck (4X4, trailer brake, etc…). The glove box is much smaller in the new truck. The console on the LT is more narrow than the old truck (less storage space in the new console and smaller cup holders). Narrow console may mean wider seats. The back doors are obviously larger and there appears to be more leg room in the back seat. I hear they are coming out with a mid-year refresh on the 2500HD that will include some minor cosmetic options and WiFi (which I don't understand the benefit of in a truck).Re: 2500 HD gasserMy 2012HD with 6.0 3.73 4X4 averages 8.5 mpg towing and 14.5 mpg on highway unloaded. These mpg numbers are based on 45,000 miles of driving with 20,000 miles towing.Re: 2011 Chev silverado 2500 2962# capacity updated br549redneck wrote: I have to ask the dealer to check the sticker the truck is 150 miles from here so just walking up and opening the door cant happen. Get him to send you a picture. Then there is no chance of misunderstanding. A good fried of mine has a 2014 2500HD Duramax. It is a LTZ Crew Cab 4X4 6'6" bed. The sticker on the door is less than 2300 lbs. Mine is a 2012 2500HD 6.0 LT Crew Cab 4X4 with a 6'6" bed. The sticker on the door is 2822 lbs.
