Congrats!Re: Thought you guys might find this interesting! Troutguy wrote: Actually American Road Campers were available directly at Ford dealerships circa approx. 1975ish’. I don’t believe that GM ever sold them but as usual I could be wrong....... Here’s a website with info.. http://www.americanroadcamper.com/ Oh you’re probably right, I thought he said C10 pickups but I am probably wrong. After all this was a few weeks ago now.Thought you guys might find this interesting!Hey all! Thought I’d share something with you all that I saw on our last outing a few weekends ago. My girlfriend and I along with another couple took a trip down to Baltimore together with our camper. The real purpose of the weekend was to go skydiving (I abstained lol) and afterwards we found our way to Patapsco State Park, which really was quite a nice place to stay. After getting our spot set up for the night we walked up to grab some firewood from the campground host and as we got to their spot I found they had quite an interesting set up. As you can probably see it is an older fiberglass truck camper, I’m assuming two pieces similar to Bigfoot and Northern Lite designs, planted atop a steel trailer with extra storage underneath the cabover. From my conversation with the owners they told me it was a model built by a company called American Road and they were commissioned by Chevrolet to go on their C10 pickups back in the late 70s. The gentleman they bought it from evidently built steel trailers just like the one on which the camper sits, and he would travel to Carlisle PA and various car shows to promote his custom car trailers. Apparently he triple towed truck, trailer/camper, and a stack of trailers behind that! Sorry I don’t have any pictures of the inside, but I found it an interesting set up and story none-the-less.Re: Where did you take your TC this weekend? We got our whole rig together for the first time this past weekend. I have a 2009 Yamaha R6 track bike, and this weekend was my first day out this year at New Jersey Motorsport Park. We had a break down on the way but it turns out I just had to replace my fuel filter, easy enough. Hopefully the issue doesn’t come back! Of course we had to stop for beer on the way! And here’s our whole set up in our usual spot! Over all a good weekend despite the stress, and the camper serves us very well for staying at the track. Can’t wait to go again!Mind the gapHey all, just wanted to share a simple but very effective “mod” I did on our 2018 AF 990. Neither my girlfriend nor I are a fan of large gaps in bathroom doors in RV’s which is something we always seem to see in certain floor plans. We were very happy to find our Arctic Fox has a sliding door into the rear wet bath rather than a standard hinged door, granting us access to the bathroom while the slide is in. However because of this design there is about a 1 1/2” gap between the back side of the door and the wall on which it hangs. This might seem trivial to some, but it matters to us newbies. Something about being able to make eye contact with my gf while she’s on the bed and I’m on the toilet didn’t feel right to me. I got the idea to insulate this gap with two overlapping foam strips. Pretty self explanatory as you can see in the pictures below. The two strips “smoosh” together just a bit when the door is closed, and having one on each side closes up the gap completely. I think the foam was about $7.50 at Home Depot, so all in all, cheap, simple, and effective!Re: Picked up our 990 today! WhooHoo!Congrats! We just bought our 990 last weekend and we can't wait to get a weekend away in it. Enjoy!Re: New camper set-up, 2017 F-350, 2016 Northern Lite 10-2Looks great! Jim, I know I’m sorry, but I’m not signing up for an image hosting site lolBrought home our AF990 this weekend!Hey all! This weekend my girlfriend and I made our return trip to Truck Camper Warehouse, this time to take delivery of our new 2018 Arctic Fox 990. A quick word about TCW: Our experience at TCW overall was very good. Having some experience in sales myself, I was relieved to find their dealership was the epitome of "no pressure". It's somewhat unconventional, compared to what most of us are used to when entering a dealership. I'm sure everybody has experienced getting the "hard sell" from a salesman who hasn't taken into consideration the wants and needs of their customer. Perhaps we were an anomaly in that senese, because we had already narrowed our search down to just two of the AF models TCW had in stock. But nonetheless I did overhear some of the other conversations with their other customers who were fresh to the TC market, and I really have to commend the guys there for their no fluff, cut to the chase attitude. There is definitely something to be said about this place. So, Saturday we arrived around 12:30 for our 1 o'clock delivery. Our salesman Charlie gave us the full walk-through of the camper explaining everything from top to bottom. This was good, because although we've owned an RV before (98 Winnebago Class C) there were some things particular to truck campers and our specific model that I didn't know. After that we loaded the camper up on the truck, put air in the bags and tires and we were on our way. After a quick stop at Cracker Barrel, which seemed appropriate, we continued a few hours south to Catskill NY which is about half way between us and them. We Pulled in to a campground around 9:00 just to have somewhere to stop and rest for the night. I reserved a spot at a campground simply for the added comfort of having water and electric hook up. In the future we're certainly going to take advantage of our ability to boondock and dry camp, but for the purposes of our first night in our new RV, the hook ups were worth it. *edit* Pictures Fixed!
