I had a new track sewn on my rear bunch then took it all apart and resecured It all and its been fine. I need to have my front one done as it pulls away. I can snap a picture next time I have it setup.Re: Stupid question about power cord. ckwjl wrote: Can you replace the hole with a larger electrical hatch access door? Did this and fixed my issues. I don't have any access except removing the convertor so the door allows for an arm to fit in if needed and also allows for it to close and lock with just the cord 'door' open to keep anything out.Re: Towing over 10K lbs with 6 passengers...Sounds like a great choice. 6 captains chairs..... jealous!Re: Towing over 10K lbs with 6 passengers...Here's what it comes down to for me- a short run using the jump seat is one thing but a long trip is out of the question. Hence my vehicle of choice.Re: Towing over 10K lbs with 6 passengers...I went with the Excursion for towing basically exclusively. I wasn't too worried about mileage as I went through the whole truck and will fix just about anything short of major failure on the road. At 8mpg it makes sense to not drove it around the city. I have put 14k miles on it in nearly 2 years, 90% towing, 5% roadtrips with full seats and maybe 5% city. Thats what the commuter is for.Re: Take along Ladder?I just use my tailgate or truck bumper. Not ideal but I don't want to carry more stuff.Re: Towing over 10K lbs with 6 passengers...Still wouldn't put any of my girls in the front.Re: Towing over 10K lbs with 6 passengers...I picked up a 01 Excursion for 5k, have redone everything and have well under 10 into it including exhaust, tuner, complete preventive overhaul, new tires, front and rear air bags and a bunch of interior stuff like full new leather package. Have 10k towing miles and love the v10. With a few things it tows as good as the diesels of the same years without the extra diesel issues. Plus we can use it around town without having to worry about short tripping the diesel. Is it perfect, no. But it runs like an ape up hills with a 9k lb trailer and all the family. Its cheap for a TV and does it well.Re: Where to leave trailer for a day while travelingThanks for the responses everyone. I went and flipped the trip around so that I'll be coming down the coast and have some more time. Plan to setup somewhere north of the city and get the time needed then go back out to camp for the night. Playing much more by ear on this trip so we will see how it goes.Re: Where to leave trailer for a day while travelingI am not worried so much ah it driving in SF as I am how will the kids do being there all day then fighting to leave on the BART. It will be a weekday, but in SF that doesnt matter much the week of July 4th. Might just come in from the east, drive up to the GG park and then after we see what we see go over the bridge north to the redwoods.
