So far we have been happy with the way it tows I'm sure once we get up into the mountains it will be slow going. We looked till we found what really suited our lifestyle and how we wanted to camp. Our mpg dropped to 11mpg from 17, but that's all part of it. If your not in a rush you can find nice new and used light weight tts out there. Rv trader is where we found ours. We did have to go out of town for it, but couldn't beat the price and condition of the TT. Weight distribution and sway control are something you really want/need to look into as well, the previous owners of ours left behind theirs which works for us as well. We had looked into big trailers ( before the truck was totaled ) but am glad we went with a smaller TT at least to start with. It is easy to tow, store, and maneuver, and we have found it also keeps us from sitting around in the trailer all the time. We were very specific about what we want, couch, dinette, and bunk beds, with no real need for a queen bed, so it took us longer to find. Hope you find one soon and can start enjoying it. Start looking at campgrounds in your area s we'll as places you want to see and things to do. I know we have a list so we an call Thursday book a ite and leave Friday after work .washing trailerI'm sure this has been gone over many times, I just can't seem to find it. What is the best way and product to use to wash a aluminum travel trailer with decals on it. Florida here so lots of love bugs to deal with this time of year.Dometic AC HumidityI'll start off with sorry if this is a repost and that I don't have more info, left all the paper work laying on the side table at home. This is our first real trip in our 2011 18ft Wildwood TT. The AC is a dometic I'm assuming basic ac with 2 nobs ( one ac/fan/op heat, and one cold - colder ) no thermostat for the ac. When the compressor is kicked in and running the unit puts out good cold air and seems to relieve the humidity, as soon as the compressor kicks off and just the fan is running it is almost like instant humidity. When the compressor kicks off and just the fan is running the thermostat for the heater still reads that it is cool in the trailer. Oh yeah we are in Florida so that doesn't help any. Is this normal or is there something wrong with our ac? Is there anyway to set it to recycle the inside air? Any suggestions on things to do?Re: Fresh water tank questionWhen traveling any distance I will have some water in the tank. For now most of the places we go are within an hour or 2 from home and places I know what kind of water they have. My main question is , is there anything I should do to maintain my water tank and pump when not in use?Fresh water tank questionWhen hooked up to city water does it run through your tank? If not should I fill and empty the fresh water tank from time to time, to keep the pump running and seals good? We normally don't travel with water in the tank if we are stay in Florida and hook up to city water. I'm just wondering if and what I should do to maintain the fresh water tank so when we do want to use it we are able.Re: attached screen roomMy grandparents always had a screenroom that attached to their awning however only used it when once a year. We debated getting one when we bought our TT and have decided to wait. We already have a 10x10 quick shade c100 found a screen enclosure for it for 49.00 on amazon. Its nice to be able to use it for other things when we don't have the TT with us. It is very easy to get down if there is a storm and if it gets torn up the 199.00 canopy and 49.00 screen is a lot less to replace then a 400.00 screen plus a new awning. We also have a small bug zapper that we found at Kmart .Re: Winter Settlers at Fort WildernessYou should check out this site if you haven't yet http://www.fortfiends.net/forum/ . The people on there should be able to answer all your question.Re: Campfires, fer em or again em!!!ForRe: Class C or TT to RV with cats? Crate or no crate? My grandparents traveled with two cats, one disliked being in a moving vehicle of any kind ( my fault but we won't get into that. The other loved it and would sit where he could look out the window like a dog, but as soon as you put him in a crate he howled till he was let out. Small litter box on the back floorboard or cargo area just in case. Always kept harnesses and tags on them just in case. A trip around the neighborhood with them loose should give you an idea how well they will travel out of a crate. They did always keep 2 folding soft sided crates packed for emergencies. The cats will react the same while driving if in a c, or a TV. Like others have said it's really depends on your cats and how adaptable they are, and what works best for you. After shopping around, getting lots of good advice on here and from my grandparents, and time weighing our needs, wants, and budget we decided on a small TT. With a C you have all the regular maintenance of a vehicle as well as well as all the regular maintenance that goes along with and RV. Another thing to take into account is where you'll be doing most of your camping will you want to leave the campground for day trips around the area? If so with a C you would need to tow a car. On the other hand in a C you have the ability ( if not driving) to move around ( use bathroom, make lunch, stretch out). Also you would probably have an onboard generator which gives you more freedom in stopping over at a Walmart or truck stop while traveling. The best advice I got which was / was not helpful was it all comes down to your needs wants and budget. Hope you and your cats enjoy your travelsRe: MichiganI can't add much to what the others have said, but the one thing I do know is if your are a fan of biscuits and gravy don't bother ordering it. Haven't found any place in MI that decent biscuits and gravy. Lake Michigan is beautiful, with lots of history and beautiful lighthouses. Enjoy your trip.
