I've been told that setting the speed control doesn't also handle the steering. :) Good to know, thanks... ;)Re: Which 3-row SUV should I get to pull a travel trailer? rjxj wrote: Dont be in a hurry as there are tons of them out there. Remember WATER DAMAGE WATER DAMAGE. People and DEALERS dump them on unsuspecting people all the time. Spend HUNDREDS for inspections but dont let anyone burn you with water damage. You can blow and engine or trans and eat the price of that but at least you then have a new eng or trans in a decent rig. When you have water damage you are stuck with it. Very hard to repair. Come back here as you shop as many of these people have been doing this for a long time. Again, if you spent a thousand dollars on inspections and threw up your hands and said the heck with it all that's still better than having your foot go through the floor 6 months after you buy something. Interesting. Thanks for these tips! Where can one find such inspection services?Re: Walk around while Class C in motion? I don't trust that anyone else in the rig is so they must stay seated. I am confused you are either a passenger or your a driver no other options that I know of. So if you do not allow passengers to do it but you do it while in motion what kind of cruise control do you have? Definitely some fancy cruise control, right there. rotflolWalk around while Class C in motion?I'm thinking about getting a Class C motor home. Do most of you require that your passengers stay seated and buckled up? Or do you let your passengers walk around while the vehicle is in motion? What about children or babies? Do you have them in carseats? Just curious what the general practice is among those of you with a Class C and what your thoughts on safety are. Also, are there legal requirements?Re: Which 3-row SUV should I get to pull a travel trailer?Great responses, everyone. Thank you so much. Thinking it over, it seems perhaps the simplest and most straightforward thing here is to go with a motor home instead. The size of our budget will likely dictate that we get something a little smaller than we originally planned, if we go with a motor home. But my wife and I talked about it and agree this seems like a better direction to go. We are looking at Class C's now. We even found one that has bunk beds. This might work after all. I really appreciate all the great suggestions. I think you helped me see the impracticality if what I was trying to do.Re: Which 3-row SUV should I get to pull a travel trailer? rjxj wrote: With a weight 9,200 and 11,500 loaded you may need something like a 3/4 ton 4 door pick up or Suburban? Yeah, I guess the problem with a 4 door pickup is it wouldn't hold all 7 of us. A Suburban sounds good, but how do I calculate whether is could carry this TT?Re: Which 3-row SUV should I get to pull a travel trailer? Also, if the SUV is a really bad idea, then what vehicle would work that could hold all 7 of us and still pull a large TT? I wish there was a crew cab pickup that could hold 7 people but that's tough to find.Re: Which 3-row SUV should I get to pull a travel trailer?I am very open to the Suburban. How do I tell which models of Suburbans would have the capability to pull a large travel trailer like this one? Also, I know there were some bad years with the Suburbans where they weren't made that well. Maybe 2000-2010 or something? Anyone remember?Which 3-row SUV should I get to pull a travel trailer?Hi, I'm new to RVing and I'm looking to buy an SUV that has three rows in order to seat my large family. This SUV needs to be strong enough to pull a large travel trailer. I'm not sure what travel trailer I'm going to get yet, but I think it may be something similar to the one below. RT310BHS: http://www.highlandridgerv.com/products/2016/roamer/travel-trailers/RT310BHS RT310BHS specs: http://www.highlandridgerv.com/products/2016/roamer/specifications/ I'd be very thankful for any suggestions anyone may have. The part I find confusing is how to know whether or the SUV has the power (engine, cooled tranny?, axles, etc.) to pull a large travel trailer. Thanks!
