I took his vaccination/rabies record and a health certificate from my vet. Coming back, he was sleeping in the back seat of the truck, and since everyone was so interested in the sailboat and how to get it through customs, I inadvertently smuggled him back into the US! Nobody asked and nobody looked. SteveRe: Atwood 8531-IV-DCPL FurnaceAs Newman says, it could be related to your pressure regulator. Icing can occur that will cause the regulator to deliver lower pressure. Your water heater will work because it has a pilot that "bathes" the thermocouple in flame, so it can operate at lower pressure. But, if you don't have enough pressure to get an initial flame big and hot enough to heat the thermocouple/flame detector in your furnace burner, the furnace won't light or stay lit. You might try heating the gas regulator and gas bottle valves (warm towels, hair dryer) and see if it makes a difference. Doesn't cost anything to try. Another reason I suggest this... I just replaced the pilot assembly on a gas fireplace. I had the glass front panel off of the fireplace, and attempted to test the operation. It appeared the pilot flame was covering the thermocouple and thermopile just fine... but the darn thing would shut off after a few minutess of operation. The fix was to put the glass panel back on, which slowed the draft through the fireplace, and allowed the pilot flame to keep the two thermal elements heated properly. I've concluded these thermal flame detectors are a bit finicky or at least sensitive (they only generate millivolts), and you need to check anything that can inhibit their operation. I doubt your bottle pressure is low, but there is a chance the line pressure is low in cold weather, and it doesn't cost anything to try and remedy gas bottle valve or regulator issues. I'd sure try this before I started ordering parts (well, practice what I preach.... I always order parts and now have plenty of spares!) This might explain why you get a flame, but it isn't supplied well enough to get hot enough to keep the furnace from trying to relight. SteveRe: Replacement Engines?I thought the 6.0 swap was pretty straight forward, and did not involve a computer swap, just a tune. I could be wrong... Last swap I did was a 383 into my 1990 3/4 ton to replace the 5.7 liter. SteveRe: Firefox and a search engineGot to Tools, then AddOns, then Get AddOns. Search for the "New Tab Homepage" AddOn and add it. Then, in Preferences, set your homepage to https://www.google.com/. Also in Preferences, where it asks "When Firefox starts," highlight the "show your homepage" button. If you do what I have done, when you open Firefox, the first page will open on Google, and each new tab will open on Google. There are other ways to do this, too, but this one works for me. SteveRe: Atwood Hydro Flame furnace shoots cold air then shuts off westend wrote: A service manual and troubleshooting chart is available from Bryant RV. Bryant RV service manuals This is excellent advice. Download the 58 page 2004 Atwood Furnace Service Manual and read it. It will show you how your furnace works, and has diagnostic sections that are very useful. Like others, I would check the sail switch. It isn't easy to get to, it is behind the large blower wheel on your furnace. If it needs replacement, it must be replaced with one specific to the model furnace you have. I'm not sure that the lack of a battery is the problem; if your converter puts out a solid 12V, the furnace should operate (and since the blower does turn on, it's probably okay). SteveRe: LED Headlights...I'm running LEDs in my 2014 Ram 2500. I put in 6500K lamps and really like the way this color cuts through fog and rain. The fog lamps also have a wider spread and illuminate the sides of the road much better. Just be sure to get the resistors for the CANBUS system so you don't get any "light out" errors on the newer trucks. SteveRe: A safety reminder...You know, I've never checked mine... guess what I'm doing tomorrow! SteveRe: Solar project thoughts.Might you want a disconnect switch between your solar controller and the solar panels, just in case you ever need to work on things in between? I guess you could just cover the panels to reduce their voltage to zero. I gave myself that option in my measly 200 watt system (yours is truly impressive!). SteveRe: Step Up ToiletJust curious, but is your toilet a "tall" or "short" version? For example, the Thetford Aqua Magic toilets come in two heights, and I thought the "short" version was for installations like yours (where it has a pedestal under it). You might check the seat height and see if another brand of toilet might give you a better/lower seat height. Yes, it will cost more than building/purchasing a step, but then, you night not have to deal with the step at all. That's my 2 cents, adjust for inflation, as appropriate... SteveRe: Looking for a office suiteI use LibreOffice, which is very similar to Open Office. What I think is nice is these software packages work on under Windows, Mac OS, or Linux. Here's a link to an article that addresses the differences between Open Office and LibreOffice: https://www.howtogeek.com/187663/openoffice-vs.-libreoffice-whats-the-difference-and-which-should-you-use/ Steve
