Very clunky remote is a poor substitute for a manual rotating device because you have no idea where its pointing and when it stops rotation it can lock up because the wirings inside the flying saucer coils up around the stem. I took the top off of it. the styrofoam disk easily chews up around the rotator stem thus it just doesn't move. Additionally I found that two of the solder joints were disconnected at where they meet the circular band around the edges. I hope resoldering the wires and putting some glue in the styrofoam will improve matters, but if not I think I'll install a batwing. This triple vision looks like it was designed as a science fair project. Junk.Re: repl AMFM antenna on 2012 Tiffin wa8yxm wrote: If it is an SMA thread good chance it's not an AM/FM radio antenna. I know of many antennas that fit SMA. have 2 here in the RV but neither is AM/FM radio.. though they woudl likely work. Maybe you are right. I had searched the forums and some owners told me that the am fm was on the right side over the passenger seat. Since that one had broken off and I wasn't getting stations I made the assumption that this was the antenna. When I looked at it I was surprised that the threads were SMA, but I assumed this was it. I'm still not getting great reception on FM but getting some. I'll check with Tiffin. Thanks.Re: repl AMFM antenna on 2012 TiffinThanks for the replies. I did the jury rig using a thread adapter and then applied self leveling putty. Seems to be working ok. Doug may be right that there is a hole, but I didn't get to see it because it would have required removing some of the putty on the front end-cap because the rectangular mounting plate extends under the cap. Seems a strangely illogical mounting method.. ??repl AMFM antenna on 2012 TiffinAntenna mast gone, not sure when, but when I tried to find a replacement I realized that the installation is non-standard. No after market universal antenna mast will fit on the SMA threading that remains and the antenna appears to be mounting on a plate attached under the front end-cap then secured with leveling putty. I don't think there is a hole in the roof, though I haven't yet removed all of putty. The stud has SMA threading like a standard coaxial TV antenna. The antenna that Tiffin sells could not fit this because it is similar to one you could buy at auto zone but at three times the price. I'm about ready to jury-rig it but wonder if I'm misunderstanding something that someone here might have some insight into it. Don Smith 2012 Tiffin Open Road 32CARe: Odd problem with a/c thermostatNarrowed it down Doug. I took the sensor off then connected it with a separate pair of wires directly to the connectors coming out of the thermostat thus bypassing the original connection which is snaked through the ceiling. Just connecting with alligator clips and hanging down on the kitchen counter. The thermostat worked correctly so the problem is in the wiring from behind the Tstat to the remote sensor. Just need to run another set of wires. Easier said than done in this ducted ceiling coach. I got the sensor from coleman. Its identical to the original. Thanks DougRe: Odd problem with a/c thermostatThank you Doug. I can't be sure there was no work done, but I am the second owner and the original owner hardly used the coach and told me he'd had no maintenance issues with the ac. Previous owner only had 9000 miles on it. I just came back from a 5 week excursion of about 5000 miles during which time the AC worked perfectly. I will check the gasket issue, but even though my coach is under cover, we are having a heat wave here in Miami and I can't work on it until it cools down. And, unfortunately, RV maintenance in Miami is hard to come by. (Not really an RV town) The closest dealers are in FT Myers on the Gulf coast. Still, that's my next step. Always prided myself on being a DYI guy. Oh well.Re: Odd problem with a/c thermostatThank you Doug. I am not the original owner, but the AC is original and has had no modifications. I did replace the rear air, but this is working fine. My model is the RV Comfort HP and does have the green wires coming out of the thermostat. As long as the remote sensor is connected to the thermostat it reads 99 degrees. To replace the remote sensor I cut and spliced the leads near the AC intake. When cut, about 4 inches from the sensor the display read "--" and after splicing it went back to 99. Thus, if the problem was a short upstream from the sensor I would not have expected a change. This is what led me to think the Tstat was bad. So I replaced it. I had trouble finding the right replacement, but I'm confident I have it now. I am concerned the the cold air circulating inside the duct near the intake duct next to the sensor might be an issue? Don't see why, but feels odd since I don't find this to be the case in the other intake ducts. Seems like there might be a hole in the duct work nearby, but I can't see it.Re: Odd problem with a/c thermostatUpdate on my problem, not solved, unfortunately. I was convinced my remote sensor was bad so I changed it out. I noticed that the temperature reading on the thermostat stayed at 99 degrees even though it was much cooler. So after that I decided that the problem is at the thermostat, so today I received a new one. The problem remains. The item on the new stat is 99 degrees. If I disconnect the remote it just goes blank. I wonder if anyone knows if a short in the sensor line might cause it to read the max temp, 99 degrees? From what jyrostng said it might be that with no resistance in the line it might either read the max or the min?Re: Pay as you go satelliteI did the almost the same as bear above, but I was a cord-cutter at home using local channels and internet only and was quite happy with it. The RV I bought had the dish so I decided to subscribe and bought the 200 channel package for home as well. Dish customer service has been much better than my previous experience with comcast, When on the road I can activate channels in a new area using the chat help function with dish. Works well.Re: Odd problem with a/c thermostatThanks folks. I've learn a lot. I'm replacing the sensor. BTW, the sensor is mounted just adjacent to an ac return register. When I remove that register I can access the wiring fortunately so it won't be difficult to switch out. I noticed however that with the AC running there is a lot of cool air blowing on my hand as if there is a hole in the duct work. This doesn't occur in any of the other intake ports. This one however is the closest one to the ac unit. Curious.
