EMD360 wrote: Coldest we have camped is about 20 degree nights. Dusting of snow. We'd like to do more winter camping now that we live in a cold climate though. I'm trying out a tank heating system right now. Be sure to post about it! When we use the rv to spend the night snowmobile it's usually just one night. If longer then that we go to that one place that has heated bathrooms/showers..25 a night with electric..only 20 amp but hey..lol. if overnight boondocking in the winter we still use the bathroom in the rv for number one. I just put 4 or 5 gallons of the pink rv stuff in first and it has never been a problem, yet. When it's gets below 20f out the furnace runs a lot but still never seems to use much propane .Re: Can you help a newb out? PleaseAnd hauling the gas for the gen would be a pain you would think. So nice just to hit the start button on the inside when gen power is needed.Re: Battery charge Wandering view wrote: Just covered my winnebago view. Checked the coach batteries and they are fully charged with water fine. I put a trickle charger on my engine battery and am wondering if that charger will help the coach batteries. Any info will be welcome... Thanks John McD The truck and house batteries are almost always isolated from each other. Now if the truck is running both should charge. If you were to charge the truck battery and you have a boost switch switched to boost ,both would charge. But from what I understand those "boost" switches are only momentarily. In my RV I have installed a switch that activates the solenoid that connects the two batteries . I use that switch every now and then when my rig is plugged into 120 from the house. That way my truck battery gets charred off the converter also. I'll do that like 2 twice a month for two days in the off season. Then I unplug it again so has not to worry about overcharging the batts.Re: moisture in tail lightsI had to clean the sockets out on mine this pass spring. I used clear silicon caulk to seal them up with new bulbs, not sure if that was a good idea. Oh I and I put that dialectic grease in the sockets.Cold weather camping.I posted on it in another thread but wonder if others do it also like snowmobiling or skiing or whatever. We spend the night at that spot maybe 2 or 3 times a season and keep warm!Re: My Future Home?Your water will freeze up fast...for sure if it's just coming from a garden hose spigot. Your holding tanks will freeze also. Huge damage if those two things were to happen and I'm pretty sure they would. now if you could park somewhere that has electricity but you could go into someones place to use the bathroom it might be ok. You would go through some propane though but you could use a electric heater some to offset that. I have stayed in mine overnight at a place where i snowmobile 3 hours away 2 or 3 times a season. But I get to park 6ft. away from a heated bathroom with hot showers. we have no water in the rv in the winter..just drinking water in a jug. we have a great time but if it's below 20 the furnace runs almost all night long pretty much non stop! Sometimes we stay in different places with no facilities if it just overnight when we are sled ridding. we just use the bathroom at restaurants before we go back for the night...lol. We can pee in the toilet in the camper because i put in like 5 gallons of the pink rv anti-freeze. never had a prob doing that. Re: Drivablity of Class C?I tested my little c on the chevy and ford chassis. chevy hands down concerning handling . I have not changed or added one thing since I bought it new in 2010.Re: what battery is used for starting a generator in a class Cmy 2010 3500 chevy coachmen starts from the chassis battery.Re: tired to dance, new RV coming Sunseeker 3010Just so you know there hardly ever is a reason to run the gen all night. Maybe if you're boon docking and want a/c..bout it. Everything else will run off of 12 volt except you're microwave. I have a 12 volt tv/dvr in mine but if you have a 120 volt tv you can use a inverter for that to keep the gen off.
