All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: South Texas Beaches MarchWe are planning after March 18th so we should hopefully miss most of Spring Break!! Wasn't sure on how far south to go though...so thought we would ask.South Texas Beaches MarchWe are headed down to Houston area in the middle of March and are looking for a nice RV park close to the beach. We are currently planning on staying in the Galveston area but are open to anywhere on the coast for about a week. Thanks!Re: Fifth Wheel external propane heaterOur Arctic Fox is really well built with double plane glass and good insulation...but as we get older we don't tolerate cold as much as we use too. Normally we wouldn't even go into Colo this time of year but we have another grand child on the way so no choice this time. Also not sure how long we will be there...but probably a few weeks so we want to be prepared. A lot depends on what the weather is during that period...ugh. So far from what I've heard and read we are looking at adding a Wave 6 heater to supplement our 1500 w electric when needed. If there's going to be a storm or something we will look at trying to skirt the bottom with some kind of temp stuff...to keep the freezing temps from the tanks. We will have to run the furnace some of course...It helps we will be spending most of the day time in the house watching the other grand kids. But better to be prepared and we love to boondock anyway. Thanks for all the input from everyone.Fifth Wheel external propane heaterWe are going to be camping in some cold weather in Colorado and are thinking about upgrading our supplemental heating. We have been looking at the Big Buddy and Mr. Heater Wall heaters as primaries but hear a lot about the Olympian Wave heaters, but they are more expensive. We should have at least a 20 amp plug in so we could also use a electric heater..... What is the feedback and recommendations from the group????? Thanks!Re: Short high line fifth wheel? We have a Arctic Fox 27-5L and love it. Its about 29' 6" and 13' tall.Re: Salinas to Santa Rosa via 101Hmm...the tunnel was the only issue I saw. It listed it as 13'6" which only gives me 6" to spare....will be close!!Re: Salinas to Santa Rosa via 101Apparently there's a tunnel on Veterans Blvd which is right after 19th Ave that's only 13' 6" so that's cutting it to close. As an alternative I could stay on 280 to 101 I suppose. Is that better for traffic??Re: Salinas to Santa Rosa via 101What about tunnels on the 85 or 280? I know I got an alert on one road that there was as low tunnel. We are around 13' high give or take a few inches. The other route taking 880 I suppose is ok but I think I would run into traffic there too.Salinas to Santa Rosa via 101We are looking at going from Salinas to Santa Rosa via Hwy 101 over the Golden Gate Bridge. We are pulling a 30 ft fifth wheel and plan on leaving to hit the SF area around 11am on a Weds. Any recommendations or suggestions? We have never gone over the Golden Gate and wanted to do it this time. ThanksRe: Air bags - required ?I have them too but my truck doesn't dip much with little air in them. The trailer is level. The only time I'm glad I have them is when I hit one of those unexpected bumps, usually in the middle of the freeway in a big city, and it really bounces. The air bags take some of the "bump" out of it and I don't have to worry about bottoming out. Always nice to have extra stuff on the truck though. :-)
