Finally found a shop that drove the rig and found that when the coated wiring loom was jiggled (over a bump) a wire inside the loom would move enough to cause the steps to activate. Replaced the factory loom and all was well.Re: What's running?since they are next door, why not stroll over and ask? If you mention you smelled gas, I don't think they would mind, and it might make them consider using a ducting unit to help out the neighbors.Re: Rookie Looking For Advice on Creating Travel PlansDon't forget the old try-and-true method of actual maps from AAA for the states you will be going through. The maps, cell phone for advance reservations (especially over holidays) and the big book by Woodall's and or others will be all you need. We loaded up with AAA maps and tour/camping books for specific states we would go through and traveled from So CA to the East coast and back again, traveling 200-300 miles per day and loving it. Don't worry, have fun. That's the joy of a motorhome.Re: Jeep Toad accumulate miles?there was a short time in the mid 2000's that the wrangler DID show mileage when towing. They then went back to no mileage after their "screw up". MY 1992 wrangler shows 180,000 on odometer and my motorhomes have racked up an additional 100,000 and the jeep is still going strong. JimGarmin or Rand McNally GPSWife finally said "maybe a GPS would be good" (after 30+ yrs of RVing) so I'm seeking guidance and input. I seem to be looking at the Garmin RV 760LM or the Rand McNally 7730 because they provide both car and RV mapping & directions as well as "life time" map updating. Would welcome thoughts and comments prior to purchase. JimRe: Trip plannersWe do it the old fashioned way. Maps... co-pilot gets maps covering all states for the trip. Prior to the trip she works out mileage or time we wish to travel. Then using the KOA book or Good Sam BIG book that lists all parks by state, she can determine where "we" want to stay.Re: iowa to the carolinas-any must see??The Civil War confederate submarine Hunley is in the area of your travels. The facility is only open on weekends and it is truly amazing. Look it up at www.hundley.orgRe: pre and post trip checklist1. We keep a large calendar in the coach to keep track of where and when. comes in handy during the year. 2. I keep a piece of paper handy on the console area to list things that I need to do or fix when home. Amazing things happen when on the road and moving a "house" on wheels and without the list they slide right out of my mind when home.Re: Western national park tripUnless you have a very "extended" period of time you are taking on a major project. If you have not been west, the distances will be mind boggling. Would suggest you group by geographical area. So.Ca to Washington, to Mesa Verde covers alot of ground. safe travels, JimRe: Generator Exhaust HoseIf your garage is like mine there are air vents along the foundation with screens. Should be some closer than the big door. If you have a gen-turi, consider laying it on the side and run some tubing such as clothes dryer tube to the screen vent. The gen-turi would solve the problem of pressure back up. JIm
