If not a remote, then your picture is of the control panel normally attached to the unit but in this cased mounted elsewhere? But you say you can turn it on at the unit? I thought the one I have might be identical to yours, but without using that panel I can't turn mine on. And if it is the control panel that was removed from the unit, is there a blanking plate where the unit was? Can you attach a pic of it? You might also try the forums at Wind-sun That's a great group that will know more about the unit you have and possible problems/fixes. What model do you have? PhilRe: Trace Enginerring Interter/Charger Control Panel IssueI have an SW2512MC Trace inverter with that same display, although I don't have the remote panel that you do. I have a connector on the unit for a remote. If I had a remote, I'd have that same display still on the unit itself. (I hope that all makes sense). So my questions are: do you have the display on the unit and does it read the same as your remote? Does the unit seem to work properly just have a faulty display? PhilRe: Best Android app for aiming sat dishThe Android app mentioned doesn't need cell service. It only needs to be GPS enabled (or whatever it's called... my phone doesn't, my wife's does and that's where the app is installed). I moved the setup you see there to the frame holding the dish but I guess the ground wire won't make a hill of beans difference if the dish is on the plastic-footed tripod, huh? You are correct. The only benefit I can see from shield grounding might be if you had some equipment that radiated EMF that could get picked up by your coax. PhilRe: Best Android app for aiming sat dishOk, it just looks like the shielding is grounded. Mine isn't. It's never made a difference that I know of. I would just have a barrel connector in place of your grounding bracket that is shown in the pic. I think if you try it without the ground hooked to anything it'll work fine. A Dish tech "installed" our RV dish the first time and he didn't ground the shielding. He's also the person that showed me the Android pointing app. PhilRe: Hwy 299 east to westIt is the way we usually go to the coast, and I believe I've tried every different route at least once (hwy 36 I tried WITHOUT the trailer, of course). There is construction along the route. They've run news stories and updates on the Redding TV station. It is a well maintained road and you will have no problems. The scenery is ok. The grades are steep but there are usually extra lanes. Once you reach hwy 101, the scenery is excellent! Don't miss Fern Canyon by Orick, if you can make it. Your trailer will NOT be allowed on that 5 or 6 mile drive to get there, but it's worth it IMHO, if you can stash the trailer or leave it at a nearby campsite. The only other acceptable routes with a trailer would be Hwy 20 from Williams to 101, and hwy 199 from Grants Pass to 101. PhilRe: Best Android app for aiming sat dish PennyPA wrote: Ed and Phil: I, too, got the tv4rv tripod and, even though we've not set it up yet, think we're going to like it. Anyway, my question: Currently my dish is set up on a metal frame on the ground with 4 cement blocks in the corners. There are 2 ground wires...one goes to the "splitter" that was attached to the frame and the other was on a self-tapping screw on the frame. They both come off the LNB cable. In preparation for when we can use the tripod, I've moved the splitter to the back and installed it on the thing that holds the dish on. That is where the one ground wire is going to go but where do I attach the other one since there will be no metal from the tripod touching the ground. Can I just drive a 10" stake into the ground and attach it there? I don't have any grounds when I use the dish so I'm not understanding your question. We have a 3-LNB dish, with two coax connections from them --- one to my receiver and one to my brother's when he vacations with us. I hook nothing more up to the dish. PhilRe: Toyo trailer tires!!From the size given, these are bias tires? PhilRe: Best Android app for aiming sat dishI use Dishpointer Pro also. I'll often make sure I can "see" satellites before I choose a campsite. Or it will let me find a 'hole in the tree cover' to get at least one of the three birds. And that tv4rv.com tripod is the best! PhilRe: Looking for a great campground near Mt. Shasta (CA)X3 on Lake Siskiyou. We've stayed there a couple of times. The ONLY problem we've had with the campground was once when we didn't get a reservation soon enough and had to go elsewhere. Phil
