It was a great trip. While it was active, we had the best time and got to see the highlights. IT WAS AWESOME. Yes, we will go back to some of these places and spend some longer times hopefully in the future. But for those nay sayers, know it is doable and can be a blast! It was for us. Not for those faint of heart but allowed us to see most of the things we wanted to see. So, Go for it and have a great time!Re: air conditioner quit againProblem is that even if you find someone who is willing to work on the AC it will most likely not make economic sense. These AC's do not usually come with service ports and even if you find the compressor it will likely cost more than replacement. Complete Replacement is fairly easy and straight forward. I have seen a compressor replacement cost around $1k. Then u have the taped in service ports that are often prone to leak as they are not soldered in. I would look to replace, that is what I did when mine went bad.Re: New Campers, Help PleaseShort answer of No, I would agree. If you have the max tow rating for your Expy and keep trailer weight to only 8,000 it will tow but it will most likely be a horrible experience, especially with sway. I towed a 9,000 pound, probably real world weight for your trailer loaded up, with a xcab f150 and it hated it, and they are more equipped for towing, especially payload on rear axle, than the Expy. Went to an xcab F-250 with V10 and was night and day. Towed it once with a friends 5.4 F-250 Crew Cab and it did okay especially around stability, but the engine was working hard. From a safety stand point I would expect the Expy to come up short.Re: Weigh StationWhen we went cross country 2 years ago we only went through one weigh station as the posted sign stated - all vehicles over 10k lbs must cross scales. the attendant pretty much waved me through as i approached the scales. Can't recall where that was, but I did not take a chance. Everywhere else I drove on by.Re: Need help with class B road test in NC, will pay/compensateRemember that the vehicle, or at least in VA and TX (places i tested for my CDL for B and then School bus) has to be a type of vehicle that you are testing for. Thus why you have posted this request. I say that because the typical ryder and other rentals are not air brake trucks, however you might be able to find a rental straight truck that does have air brakes. Of course then you will need someone with the proper license to get it to the DMV. Ryder does rent Class 8 trucks so they are probably your best bet. Anybody you know have a dump truck with air brakes?Re: cross country tripIn Pigeon Forge late September early October, you may want reservations but the peak season is usually after the 1st week of Oct. After that I would make sure to have reservations in those areas where you want to see the fall colors.Re: 2 generators simultaneously for backup powerThe wave form was my first thought as a problem, but I had limited knowledge that I knew you all could provide answers for, thanks! I will need to do my first thought of getting a bigger second gennie for the house that will be a stand alone solution for the 220 needs.2 generators simultaneously for backup powerHere is a question i thought some of you might have a thought toward. I am planning on getting the champion inverter gennie for some general use. However I was thinking about some backup power for my home. Here is my thought. (i do realize that i need to do the following in a safe manner that uses a manual transfer switch to protect the power linesmen) In order to have enough wattage to power some of my home items i would also purchase a second non-nverter gennie and use it to power one leg of a 220 breaker, and the inverter gennie to power the other leg of a 220, both wired to neutral and ground. (Not using the parallel type set-up) The real question is would this cause any issue. - from using inverter/non-inverter? - would two different gennies providing power be a problem for well pump or electric water heater? - would there be too much "distortion" in the power supply to be useful? Other thoughts? thanks!Re: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info. professor95 wrote: Just a "heads up". We were at the "Rivia" (river for non-locals) last week. Big, bad thunderstorm came along and knocked out power. ! I was trying to get home from vacation on 64 during that storm - driving 40mph with my TT in tow - must have been 5 trees down between Palmyra exit and 295/95 interchange - was a tense drive home - Good news is i only lost power at home for 30 minutes and had the champ on the truck. Friday took the little champ over to some friends who lost power and they were very pleased to have a fan and fridge again. hope not to see storms like that anytime again soon.Re: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info. Has anyone kept track of how long it has been since we had a Honda/Yamaha flamer pay us a visit and grace us with their inifinite wisdom? I feel lucky today. I guess some folks just don't want to take a chance on lots of research (thanks again for all who have contributed) and tests. I for one am a "Champion owning beliver" BTW - happy belated birthday thread...
