The bunk ends leak around the lower part of the seal on the sides because the seal doesn't stay in the channel. I lowered the awning a few minutes ago to check on it and it actually came down right. Hmmmmm...If I can find awning repair tape or patches it may be salvagable for another season or two. I do caulk what I can see when I come across it.The saga of my junk rig.....I need suggestions....I have a 2009 Kodiak 192 hybrid. (Some people here might remember other post I've made about this) To say its a POS is a raging understatement. The bunk ends are of extremely poor design and borderline unusable. THe outside shower has never worked. The step tore out of the underside of the floor because the floor in that spot somehow got wet and its soft/spongy right there by the door. All the decals are peeling and it looks hideous. THere is delamination. The fenders fell off. Yes, fell off. The icing on the cake is last time I used it, when I went to put the awning back up, something went wrong with the mechanism and it retracted wrong and absolutely shredded the awning and bent something because the supports don't line up when their supposed to be closed, so the awning is destroyed. The only saving grace is it doesn't leak (except bunk ends) and everything inside still works. I owe 12K on it. Yeah, we don't need to get into that. Ex wife issues there. I'm a poor working slob that can't afford to pay it off, or spend thousands on massive repairs. So I really don't know what to do with it. I"m about 85% sure I'm simply going to take the awning off and toss it, and just fill the bolt holes. I will just use a pop up cabana I have. I can try to shore up the floor where its soft and simply make a simple set of steps out of wood. I already tarp the bunkends to keep rain out. So, I'm asking what you would do in this situation?Re: Battery woes....I actually want to be able to use the battery more. I want to start dry camping more. I have considered getting at least 2 29 size. Pretty much just for the heater, fridge ignitor etc. I use those battery powered lights with the remote switch for lights when boondocking since the regular lights would drain the battery in no time....Re: Battery woes....Power Pedestal Princesses. LOL. I like that.Re: Battery woes....I just checked the fluid level in them and its right at the top. I admit, I haven't done any maintenance on the battery. I didn't realize you couldn't leave it hooked up with the shore power on. I figured that would keep it charged. Live and learn.Battery woes....So my battery is dead again. Unplugged to the shore power to see if the battery was ok after the winter and within and hour and a half it was down to 1/3. I've always been getting the EverStart RV/marine batteries from walmart. I haven't checked the water level in them yet either. (I don't think that would matter at this point) Its the 29 size. What type/brand would you recommend I try this time?Re: Generator question.... (leaving in less than two weeks)Hmmmm. I think if I do get one, I'll get something a little more robust. I may just do the extra battery thing and maybe simply pick up a switch to flip between the new and old (since you don't want to wire an old and new battery together)Re: Generator question.... (leaving in less than two weeks)Yes, I realize I won't be using the AC, I was referring to the possibility in summer. This trip will be 5 nights. I have already installed battery powered lights in the rig with wireless swithches for lighting. I ve dry camped before like I mentioned but it would just be nice to be able to use the microwave and charge the battery without using the truck.Re: Generator question.... (leaving in less than two weeks)Hmmmm. Ok I see, well I wouldn't be running it constantly thats for sure, just as needed or when the batt was low. They also had a 3000/3250 propane generator there too (also champion) They had some larger Generacs as well. Hmmmm... I wasn't planning on getting one and just running off the battery but last year I had to hook the truck back up to it and charge the battery some after a few days of boondocking. I thought about getting a 2cnd battery and switch to flip it to the other one when it got low. Decisions, decisions...Generator question.... (leaving in less than two weeks)I apologize in advance if its in the wrong forum. I'm going in earyly Oct to a state park not far away, that has no hook ups of any kind. I've been kicking around the idea of getting either a second battery or a generator so I'll have the 110 when/if I need it. A local retailer has a Champion 1400/1800 on sale right now for 179. VERY tempting as I'm a tapped out working slob. It seems like it would be perfect for charging the battery back up or being able to use some 110 stuff. I realize its not the best brand. Now, my question is about what it would run... My microwave is a 900W. I believe the air conditioner booklet said it was 536W. Obviously I know not to try to run more than one high powered device at a time. It even has an RV plug in (grin). I looked at inverter gennies but ka-ching. That brings me to the next thing. Is there something to put in between the generator and the rig to smooth out that rough electricity? Line conditioner etc? Or will the rigs inverter be able to handle it? Thanks for any help you can give me.
