I'll clean with simple green today. There is also an electric outlet in the back engine compartment with a plug hanging nearby but not plugged in. I'm assuming that is for a device that heats the engine in cold temps correct?Re: Engine water temp-What is considered high?Thank you for all the replies. A few things and more questions. 1. I am not very knowledgable when it comes to engines and don't do my own work so Usermanual I'm don't add more fluids and I don't know what an HP hose is. 2. I only put about 2500 miles a year MAX on the motorhome and get it serviced once a year although it has been a year and a half since last service. 3. When the temp hit 225-30ish and I hear the beeping sound i'm only at that temp for about 5-10 mins max before the grade levels out and the temp quickly drops. What is the gear I should be in to climb the Grapevine grade?Engine water temp-What is considered high?Hi all, I have a 2005 Monaco Diplomat with a 400 hp Cummins diesel, I have owned it for 4 years. It has been problem free and runs great. However, the 4 times I have taken it over the Grape Vine steep grade the engine water temp creeps up over the 200 marker. When it gets to about 225 I start to hear a faint squelching/light beeping sound from by my left leg. As it gets to about 230ish it becomes a full blown beeping sound like when a car door is left open on an automobile. No warning lights come on and my RV is equipd with a engine warning light, a check engine light and a Stop Engine light. As I go down hill the beeping slowly fades as the engine cools until it goes to a light squelch and then disappears. I am assuming this is some sort of warning. Is it a warning? Does anyone else get this warning? Is my engine running too hot? What can I do to bring the temp down when going up a hill as I do have the peddle all the way down? Should I drop my speed to a crawl like the semis do? Should I pull over and let engine cool and if I do that do I rust sit and let it idle or turn off engine after it idles a few mins? Thanks for any education you can offer!Roof mounting Winegard pathway X1I'm looking to replace a non functioning King Dome relay with the Pathway. I'd like to mount it to roof. The 2 coax cables are already installed on the roof and run to main box and bedroom box. Obviously I can't use the existing hardware from the King dome. I see that I can purchase a roof mount kit for the Winegard. My question is would this be a hard install for someone who has never mounted anything on the roof? The wiring is all there so it's just a matter of mounting it and screwing in the cables. I don't know much about drilling into roof or how to seal the screws so water doesn't get in. My local RV place did my dome last summer so I can see how it was done. Is there an online video I could watch? Thanks!Winegard Pathway X1 vs. the carryout G2+So they have apparently discontinued the King Dome Relay for dish. Which is what I had but just got busted by a tree branch. I'm now shopping for a replacement. Does any one know the difference between the Winegard Pathway X1 $399.00 and the Winegard Carryout G2+ $579.00? The discription on Camping world site isn't giving me much.Stationary satellite for Dish networkI had a king Dome relay. Unfortunately it was damaged beyond repair by a falling tree branch. I had a few small issues with it while owning it for the last year. Mostly it saying that something is blocking its view of the satellites despite the fact I was in a area with nothing blocking it and it was a clear day. Also, some mornings I would wake up and after it worked with no problem for 2 straight days or so it display a message again saying something is blocking its view. I did suspect that maybe my RV shop ripped me off and installed a used or refurbished model. My question is is there a better satellite dish that I could get? Is this one of the better ones made? Obviously just getting a replacement of the same model would be easier as I already have the roof mount ready to go but I always want to get the most reliable and newest devices I can. My budget is up to $600, I don't need in motion and it must be able to get Dish network HD Thank youRe: Class A tire Air pressureThanks again to all. Where do I find the tire pressure chart? Online maybe?Re: Class A tire Air pressureOK. I appreciate everybody's feedback. I will definitely do my best to find a place to weigh my RV on all 4 corners. However, the SF bay area doesn't exactly have weigh stations down the street. It is not a trucking area. I know I will run into something on HWY 5 and I know there is a truck stop with a weigh station about an hour away in Gilroy off HWY 101 but not sure if it is just for trucks. Now in the meantime, and without making the assumption that everybody has immediate access to weigh stations, while I prepare for my trip and head South towards a weigh station should I air up closer to the 120lbs max or be under at 110lbs or what? Thanks again!Class A tire Air pressureTrying to see what most people ride on. I'm in Northern California and the temp has been around 55-65 degrees. I just brought Motorhome out of storage and checked the cold tire pressure Tires are Brand new Samsons 275/70R 22.5 rated to be inflated to 120 cold Right now all 6 are between 105 and 109 cold. The ride seems ok. Heading South 4 hours to Santa Barbara on Sunday. Is this ok? How much pressure do they gain on a 4 hr trip in temps no hotter than 70 degrees (I know, hard to tell)? What do most people inflate their tires to when traveling? Thanks for the help!Re: Any tips for driving 40' class A diesel in snowFirst, thanks for all the great responses. But I just want to clarify a few things. 1. Have logged enough miles to be confidant in my driving of this rig. It is my 3rd RV my first being a 34' travel trailer. From day one veteran RV were impressed with my handling of it (being an ex pro tennis player may help with reflexes and hand eye as I was often dodging 120mph shots to my head at net! LOL!) 2. I was NEVER PLANNING ON DRIVING IN A SNOW STORM! I would of course pull over at the first sign of heavy snow. I'm driving my house! Couldn't be stuck in a better place right? 3. I was just wondering if it had dumped 10" a day before and I wanted to head up the next day to get some fresh snow could it be done. The transportation authority sucks at repairing roads but the mountain divisions are very could at clearing them of snow. 4. A very good point about winterizing the rig. Never thought of that. 5. Just to clarify for those of you in the east or north. In California SF Bay Area we are not driving in snow for hours white knuckled just to get somewhere. When you decide to head to the mountains you may only be in snow for 2 hours at the end of a 5 hour drive and sometimes, depending on which resort you go to, only 45 minutes at the end of a 3.5 hrs drive. I understand driving from NY to Vermont is probably almost all snow the whole way. Very different from here. Yet, that is also who I wanted to hear from since you all have so much more experience. I think what I'm hearing is........take your time. Don't try to be a snow plow and take on 4 feet of the stuff. Have chains and practice putting them on. Know the weather both when your going and when your planning to leave. Yes, the weight of the motor home can help keep you on the road, however, it will also increase your braking distance. The fact the front of a motor home is lighter with engine in back steering on icy roads could pose a problem. YES, would love to make the very simple drive to Bear Valley and park in the lot have my own everything, not have to drive out with the crowds and own the mountain........now I've got to figure out how you winterize and what temperature would you need to start thinking about that. I do have heated tanks. Does that mean anything?
