The best way to reserve a spot I've seen is using a Yakima Rack & Roll trailer, or some tiny trailer that has a license plate. When there, chain the wheels down, and perhaps chain it to an object. People tend to not mess with vehicles unless they are dedicated thieves, mainly because doing so is a felony here in Texas.Re: Camping seasonYep, here in Texas, other than the heavy rains, come middle of June, camping requires an A/C to be run from 9am to 7pm, preferably in concert with a dehumidifier so one doesn't feel clammy due to the humidity. This is when the rig goes into (hopefully covered) storage until the weather breaks, which used to be early September, but has been as late as Thanksgiving in recent years. Come fall, I know when camping season starts when I start seeing sewage hoses on the side of the road, or RVs with them dragging from the bumper.Re: Legal or safety issues carrying diesel fuel containers in RVI have seen fuel (gasoline or diesel) carried in 2-3 different places outside a class "C": 1: With a Jeep Wrangler toad soft-top, the fuel canisters were both places in the toad, and a few were bolted to the back, allowing for 20-30 additional gallons. 2: A rack was placed on the roof, with the cans attached to that. 3: A new bumper was welded on (the factory bumpers will shear off very easily), and the fuel cans mounted on that. 4: A rear hitch mounted cargo rack was used. Of all of those, if one hasn't done it already, I'd go with the hitch mounted cargo rack.Re: magnetic cam locks?I would go for a set of cam locks that use an automotive key, or a set that uses a triangle-shaped wrench to open. It doesn't take much to wrench open those doors., and the only thing you really need the cam for is a deterrence from skulkers. I wish RV makers would reinforce the doors so it would actually take some force or some better tools to open the compartments. At the minimum, have the door completely flush, or countersunk in slightly so there is no easy way to lever it open.Re: What's this in my black tank?At least nobody is offering taste tests yet.Re: Trouble at Hymer?I don't think the RT vans will really be devalued. I have seen 10 year old Roadtrek T1N Sprinter models going for MSRP in my neck of the woods... and people paying for them. I think there will definitely be third party sources for the stuff RT made, so if something breaks, you won't be completely SOL.E15 gasoline incoming...Leaving this link here. I am not aiming to be political with this, but just a heads up... more booze in our dino juice is headed our way.Re: In search of a small Class CWhat ever happened to the smaller motorhomes? Nobody makes anything shorter than 26 feet these days. It would be nice to have something that can park in a single parking spot. The 19 foot Majestic is a nice item, but with the floorplan allowed for a better bed.Re: AT&T Partners with Airstream to launch a "Smart RV"Call me old fashioned, but it just means a lot of new electronic gewgaws that will break or get hacked. It is only a matter of time before the cellular system in the rig is obsolete.Re: where or can I get LED bulbs ?I just bought a bunch of cheap bulbs from eBay for $1 each, including shipping. The light is a cold white, and I prefer something warmer, but it isn't bad. The energy savings is worth it.
