I took the advise of getting a furnished apt. Put my 5th wheel on craigslist and it sold a 1/2 hour later. Now I need to sell the B&W but that might need to wait until I have the time to deal with it. Someday in the future I may get to return to rv'ing.Phoenix Area in the Fifth Wheel - for a year.. suggestions?I have an interesting situation that requires I relocate to PHX for a year and I need to do so in the next 3 weeks. I'm thinking I might just take me 5th wheel and live in it. This relocation is for work. I am 55+ and will need to commute daily to the downtown area. What I am looking for are suggestions on where to locate the 5th wheel that would be a decent commutable distance to downtown yet a nice place to live as well. Any ideas for me? Thanks!Re: Where do you carry 'IT'We keep it in the basement until we get to our site then we store under the axles. BTW, we call ours "Cousin Eddie".Re: 2004 Ford F-350 dieselWe have an '06 f250 diesel. Have had it for several years now; we purchased it used with 90k miles. It has been a dream, especially towing our 5th wheel. No issues. Maintenance I believe is the key to good long service from these trucks. I've heard of issues in the 03 and 04 years but if maintained shouldn't be an issue. Most engineered problems were resolved by 06 model year. Do not modify it in any way, maintain it with scheduled services and it should last longer than you'll want it to.Re: change of plansI would agree with this. Catalina is nice and with lots of good hiking. I have not tried much beyond Catalina but was happy with that choice. Great asset for Tucson and so near everything it is hard to beat. 2gypsies wrote: Catalina State Park in Tucson is very nice with good hiking - if you can get in. It's very popular. If you want a lot of activities, try the Voyager RV in Tucson. Sedona in Feb/March can still be cool but you might luck out although maybe not this year. We always stay at Dead Horse Ranch State Park in Cottonwood which is a short drive to Sedona. Re: Stableloads and leaf springs lap527 wrote: DH and I were talking about stableloads and the leaf springs and wondering if anyone has ever had one to break while under a load. He wonders due to the stress on the springs from the stableloads if there is a possibility of the spring breaking at the point of contact with the stableloads. DH worries too much and I fly by the seat of my pants. :B I think it would have to be some type of defect due to the hard steel but you never know. Have Stableloads on my '06 F250, pulling 33' fiver. No issues - I think you would be more likely to break springs that over flexed and stable loads prevent that to some degree.Re: loosing freon dash air(1) Freon contains light oil, there should be a very noticeable amount of oil near where this leak is occurring. (2) Most leaks occur at the service ports because the schrader valve doesn't seat properly or is loose. (3) Outside of the shrader the leaks occur and fittings. (4) Get yourself a container of water mixed with dish soap, put freon in the system and paint the ac lines with the soap mixture, if there is a leak it will create bubbles.Re: Taos NM to Las Vegas NM - Route NM 518Beautiful part of the country. You'll have no issues if you take it easy and enjoy the scenery along the way. Stop at Sipapu and look around, stay if you can for a while. I did my "Forestry internship" there on the Carson National Forest and stayed at the Sipapu Lodge for several months. I love it there and I'm sure others will too. The roads were good but windy and you must be careful. Grades are not bad. Condition of the roads is generally good. Be safe. JoeH wrote: We are in Taos and heading to Lubbock in a couple days. Looks like NM 518 from Taos to Las Vegas would be the shortest first step of the trip. Any input on the grades/condition of the road. We are in a 43' MH towing a pickup. Re: Is a long bed a requirement for pulling a 5th wheel?I have a 2006 F250 short bed, a transfer flow fuel tank/tool box combo, a B&M turnover ball hitch with a B&M companion fifth wheel hitch (not a slider) towing a 2003 Keystone Challenger. No issues. I think it does depend on the 5th wheel and if it can make contact with the cab. Mine can't.Re: Air Cinditioner not coolingSomething to check. Be sure you are getting really good air flow both in the condensing unit and through the evaporator coil. While not as important for heat, AC requires that you have good air flow. Clean filters, all duct work open, no collapses, good fan. Up top make sure the condensing unit is clean, fins are not bent closed and so on.... You can leave the fan switch in the ON position for AC. Have you had this unit serviced where they hooked the gauges to it? The hunter21 wrote: I have a 2003 Keystone Challenger with a Carrier AirV air conditioner. It doesn't seem to cool the trailer like it should. I have had three servicemen look at it and they all say its working fine. Yet when I am in a campground, my camper is warmer than everyone else and they all have water running off theirs, I only have a slow drip. Any suggestions?
