Thinking about towing med-size SUV 3,200 pounds. U Haul rents a 10 foot single rear axle box they claim tows up to 6,000 pounds. Anyone. Anyone? Re: where are the "B" people? We full timed for 12 years hauling a 33 ' triple slide 5th wheel behind a 400 HP diesel Volvo 'semi'. No longer interested in towing, we purchased a vintage 1977 Dodge CB300 18' Class B MH with wet-toilet a few months ago. We're the 3rd owners in 40 years! 318 engine has 61,000 original documented miles. The issues are almost everything made of rubber or cork are dried out and leaking. To date have got rid of the 16.5 wheels.Changed to 16" with new 10 ply tires. Installed a new 2 barrel Carter carb., new valve cover gaskets, new spark plugs, cleaned and painted engine. Installed 100W solar panel, repainted interior with two-tone black and white scheme, which will eventually match a black & white checkerboard vinyl tile floor. (RETRO) Just starting to work on suspension system. Way too much body roll for comfort. Adjusted steering box, but still some play. Sorry no photo since I can't figure out how to get photo URL in Picasa!Re: What is used to measure temp of tires? If you're really worried about having a blow out; Pressure PRO will not be of any help!Re: AWNING PROBLEMSIf you're REALLY HANDY and VERY CAREFUL you can change the springs. Aftermarket springs cost around $75.00. You need 2-3 people. A You Tube Video will show you how to do it.... I've replaced 3 sets over the years without a problem.Re: Atwood Hydroflame 8531-II furnace issuesSame thing happened to our unit. All checked out too! I took a chance and changed the sail switch for 20 bucks. All good after the guess...Re: What is used to measure temp of tires?Harbor Freight sells a relatively inexpensive temp. tester. You aim it at whatever, and it will give you an LED readout. I've no idea how accurate it is. Although, in 40 years of towing, I never thought about tire temps getting out of hand. Remember; the faster you go, the hotter the tires. Just make sure you have the correct amount if air in them.Re: 1/2 ton trucks? Our 2004 Nissan Titan 1/2 ton 5.6 sucks fuel for sure! But, it hauls our 5,200 pound Prowler TT (dry) just fine...Re: Approx Maint Costs For Used 28' Class C After Purchase?Transmission service for peace of mind and tire replacement if sidewalls checked or over 6 years old. If you set on stalling a second battery, they should be purchased at the same time. Change oil on Generator. If it's operating smoothly; leave it alone!Re: hitch questionAs long as it meets the rating your towing, and someone that knows what their doing installs it; YES.Re: Help!!A 12 volt water pump, fridge and furnace WILL NOT work plugged into shore power if the batteries are dead! The only thing that will work are the 110 volt wall receptacles. Disconnect your battery pack, clip the battery charger to the ends of the RV battery cable. + to + - to -. Plug in charger to shore power or gen. All 12 volt accessories will start working again. Sounds like a bad converter or batteries. FYI I'm up the hill in Grass Valley.
