After discussions with the owner over liability and who knew more about driving the rig, they let me poke it in the bay. I will probably start changing it myself in the driveway. It's just too much of a hassle to take it somewhere and trust they will not screw something else up.Re: ScanGauge IIMonitoring Gallons Per Hour on a 31 ft RV on a F450 chassis is entertaining.Re: My new to me 2011 Jayco 31SS has no spare tire?I have a 2012 Greyhawk 31FS, it did not come with a spare. The rim and tire cost just under $450 from Ford. Stock, rating stamped wheel just like the ones on the chassis. There is room up under the bed on a 31FS, other models may not have the same clearances. I opted to mount it on a receiver hitch post mount from e-trailer and carry it on back when not carrying bikes. I bought and installed a front class 3 hitch on the front of the coach. I have since moved the spare to the front. It added weight to the front axle load, but I have not noticed a decrease in handling or engine/trans temp increase. I would almost say the extra weight/down force, has helped handling. I cannot take a long trip without a spare. I see it greatly reducing the amount of time spent on the roadside and that will increase our safety. Plus is the tire matches others and i will not have to double pay for a temporary field fix in the boonies.
