All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsJayco SkylarkWe've been looking for a "new" used trailer that's lighter than our present TT. We've come across a 2011 Jayco Skylark which we've never heard of before, and actually have never seen one. I do like the "V" front end and it seems to be really nice. Anyone have any experience with these TT's, good or bad??Re: tow with all wheel drive?Only kinda disappeared cause I couldn't remember if I posted or if I did where? I don't feel like 77 but my brain seems to work that way. Thank you all for responding, did not know that AWD was selectable, so that would be ok. So far 1994 has been my newest tow vehicle, don't like the newer ones with all the OBDII computers, but may have to do that. So am not familiar with all the recent inventions. I'm stuck in the '60's, towed with a 1965 Chevy Van for years. Has 292 6 very torquey. Still have it, will still tow.tow with all wheel drive? Our 94 Suburban cracked a head so were looking for a newer Suburban. Many of them seem to be all wheel drive, can you tow with those?Re: Should I re-winterize?Pour some antifreeze into the traps. Otherwise I always blow out the water with a tire inflator, takes about 15 minutes. Make sure to open the drains under the trailer and turn on the pump to run it out of water. Since we use our TT year around, had to re-winterize 3 times, no biggy. Or keep the heat on to 50 as suggested. Have been doing this for years, never froze any pipes. Started that after I first used antifreeze and didn't like cleaning it out of the system and it changed the taste of the water for a while.6 VOLT BATTERIES, MINIMUM VOLTAGEI used to know this but don't remember much anymore. I'm using two 6 volt golf cart type batteries in my 2005 Trail Cruiser. How low can I let the batteries run down? Right now I'm testing how long they will run the furnace in anticipation of several days boondocking. I run the furnace all the time adjusting it for day and night. After 4 days the voltage is 11.3 while the furnace is running but jumps back up to 11.8 when it stops. Am I ruining the batteries at 11.3?Re: GM Mileage 6.6 gas & DieselWhen you start worrying about gas mileage, you are no longer having fun RV'ing. Just drive it and enjoy.Re: Fuel consumption too high? When you start worrying about gas mileage you no longer can have any fun RV'ing. Last thing I worry about.Re: New store spaceThere are many areas in a TT that get closed off by the manufacturer that can be opened up for storage. Sounds like your idea would work. You can always put the paneling back if it doesn't work. Most trailers I've had have had panels in various areas like under the bathroom sink that were stapled in. I've opened those up and have gained huge storage areas. I buy those little gold hinges and magnet closers so they can be opened and closed. Then drill a 3/4" hole in the door to open it, don't need knobs that way.ATWOOD WATER HEATER WON'T SHUT OFFGot an '05 Trail Cruiser, 6 gallon HWT took a long time to get hot so replaced the propane valve. Now I have a nice hot powerful flame. Now it won't seem to shut off the flame even after 1/2 hour and the water is really really hot. So replaced the two thermostats. Still won't shut the flame off. Now what?Re: Electric brakes issueI bought the female part of the 7 pin connector and mounted it on top of my A-frame and plug it in there when not using, keep the pins in the receiver dielectricized to keep water out. Lot better than hanging it in the mud. Doesn't oxidize either. Always seemed to migrate down that far before mounting a receiver on the tongue.
