Saving the grease is something I avoid, whether cooking stovetop, oven, air fryer or other methods is not in our interest. Disposing of grease frowned upon by the refuse collectors. We only eat bacon maybe once a week, link sausage less then that, so that is why I buy pre-cooked and packaged, for convenience sake. No Costco, Aldi or Sam's near us. A box of fifteen slices may last us a month. Thirty to thirty five seconds and it is done, no grease no mess. Like I said, the Hormel Black Label brand, TO US, agrees wilt our taste buds.Pre-cooked packaged baconI think this has been kicked around before, but let's try again for S & G.... I know nothing takes the place of real skillet fried bacon. But to keep down on the mess, I have been using the pre-cooked package stuff for several years, and tried all brands. We have found the Hormel Black Label to be the #1 all round for flavor, texture and best cooking in the microwave. Anyone else have or use pre-cooked bacon? As a side note, we don't do a lot of bacon, some weeks none at all, at the most, eight pieces in a week....Re: Favorite Cooking Quotes"and just cook it til its done..."Re: Power jacjNot knowing the type of unit you have, be sure to get one with the weight rating of you unit. I have had two different units with electric Jack's, would. Not own a trailer without one.Re: Private Arkansas campgroundMay I suggest you Google Mountain View, AR and you will find all the private campgrounds you can visit! The first one that came to mind is Jack's Fishing Resort on the bank of the White River. RV sites, cabins or motel rooms, boat rental, swimming pool, and one of the best restaurants in the state, JoJo's Fish House, serving fried catfish. It is close to town where you can shop, take a lawn chair down to the Courthouse Square and listen to music by groups all around the Square. We usually stayed at Sylamore Creek Campground, grands were not into fishing but I have been known to wet a hook in the Creek while the kids and Grandma played in the water. Also, the Ozark Folk Center is close and see all the craftsmen and women at work. If you need more info, just holler....Re: Turn Your Regular Grill into a Smoker - EasyI have been doing this for several years, on a gas and charcoal grill. Nice way to do ribs, chicken, Cornish hens, and even meat loaf. I don't really recommend doing large pieces of meat like a whole brisket, large pork butt, or 20 lb. Turkey unless you use a gas grill where you can regulate the temp. Using a charcoal grill with large pieces of meat, and trying to regulate a low temp takes too much babysitting the grill, JMHO.....Handy kitchen tip #93Instead of using those cheap plastic or flimsy metal chip bag clips, we use the binder clips found in the office supply aisle at Walmart. We buy the medium size, but once in a while a large one. They last forever and don't break or fall apart. Just an idea....Re: New F-150 Electric P/UWell, I didn't fill in all the info. We don't own any type of unit currently, maybe in the future. My daily driver is a F250 Super Duty, CC, V-10, 2WD. I am planning on downsizing in the near future. DW daily is a Buick Encore. We like to make trips in the truck, car is a little small. We make the Texas trip every two or three months, to see the grands. First question, when are all these charging stations going to be installed, who is paying for the stations, how much will a charge cost. We all know the power grids in Texas are about maxed out, how much is a home charger installed cost? I don't see a electric truck in my future.... Son does not have a charger at his home either, you think he might install one for me.New F-150 Electric P/UOK, saw the ad on television for the Electric F-150, not really impressed. 300 mile average distance traveled on a charge, then charge overnight and ready for another 300 miles. I live in Central Arkansas, my son lives in Rockwall, Texas, I calculated my mileage and come up with total distance of 327 miles. Not counting off and ons for potty breaks and he lives a few miles off I-30, I rounded it up to 350 miles. Now if I drove the elec. truck, I would have to find a place between Greenville and Rowlett to charge and spend the night. Why would I want one of these trucks?Re: SPAM-alama-dingdongI love when this subject pops up! ??. I sing the praises of SPAM all the time. I am 71, in fair health, no cholesterol problems or high blood pressure. I have eaten SPAM as far back as I can remember. It has seen me through some lean times and the good times. I have carried it with me in the single serve foil packs on over 15 mission trips to Central America. I can truly say it has kept me from going hungry a few times. I DO NOT eat rice or beans fixed any way you fix them. I make a meal of SPAM and crackers if that is all I can get. The only SPAM I don't care for is the barbecue flavored. I used to love to take a can of SPAM to the deer stand for lunch. Open it up, take out the hunting knife, cut it up in the can and have a meal.... The good old days. ?
