Slide out wont retract! This will probably take 2 people, but put a voltage meter on the battery and check the voltage when you hit the slide button. If it goes below 11 volts the battery doesn't have enough charge to operate the slide. If it goes to zero you probably have a short in the battery.Re: Getting the shine back on fiberglas. bobmacc wrote: If you have unfinished gelcoat, your best bet would be a marine product that removes the surface oxidation. If you have a West Marine store nearby or go to their online catalog, there are a myriad of products by 3M or Meguires that can do the job. Keep in mind that most boats are gelcoat only - not painted- and arguably face harsher treatment than an RV. We used 3M "Finesse It II" every couple of years on our boat and it restored the finish. We waxed afterwards and had best results using waxes containing Teflon. Good luck! This is what I wound up doing. I bought a 3 step process of Meguires products a West Marine. They also had 3M but the sales guy had personally used the Meguires. It looks like new again. I did do every process twice though. Thanks for all the help. RedRe: What do full timers do when too old to drive the rig?Our thoughts exactly! But an empty home isn't good either. Wish I had the answer.Re: Finally!!!Congrats in the new rig.Re: How Low is Too Low (Voltage)FWIW I use a hughes autoformer. I have a 50 amp 5th wheel with 2 AC's.. When I'm at a corps park with 30 amps it allows me to run both AC's. I do put the refrig and water heater on gas, and when we forget and run the microwave it blows the circuit breaker. But with just the AC's it will boost 108 volts to 120 while running the ac's.Re: Getting the shine back on fiberglas. Thanks for all the ideas. Time get started. I'll report in when I'm done. RedRe: Class A to a Fifth wheel......What to expect on MPG???Speed and wind are the biggest factors in fuel mileage. You can't change the wind but you can slow down. I have a 2010 F350 DRW with a 6.4. Engine has lots of power to pull mountain passes. We took a trip to CO this summer and avg 8 mpg, I was driving 70 mph. I understand the new 6.7 has good power also but has a lot better fuel mileage. If you want mileage get a newer truck and drive 62 mph.Getting the shine back on fiberglas.I have a Lance camper under a car port but it opens to the south. The front is exposed to the sun and has lost the "depth of sheen" and waxing doesn't help. Is there anything I can use to restore the sheen? Thank in advance. RedRe: 5th Wheel LevelingWe came out of a motor home to a 5th wheel 3 months ago. We got the level up jacks "love them" but didn't get a generator. Ours is pr-ewired for a genny, but I thought I would see how bad I needed one before I spent the money. We also added a trailer hitch to the back of the fw. I thought I'd make a bracket and get a champion with remote start and put it in the receiver hitch if I had to have a genny. The LP gennys burn a lot of propane IMO.
