It's sounding like the company is not so well off financially.. If they cannot afford to stand behind their product, stocks drop, sales drop. It's not like the gensets have been abused. This is normal use, it is a defective product. It's too bad because onan used to be a good generator. But these defective power inverters are going to ruin them. The real sad part is they probably contract out that part! If I had heard about these things going down after such short use, and the cost to fix them... I've sent an email to Cummings, no reply yet. I really hope they can do something for me. With only 422 hours on it, it must have been defective. Problem is time wise the warranty is up. But it takes a long time to rack up hours on a recreation unit. Most campsites limit the amount of time you can run a genset. Surely cummins realizes that. Anyhow wish me luck. Thanks... Tried it.. No change... I did a voltage check at j5 and j8 , 12.8 volts there.. So the inverter has voltage.. Guess it is shot.. Hmmm. Decision time,, new inverter $3,000 cnd. To get me another 400 hrs of use... Naw! Does anyone know of a hdkaj onan that has been converted to old school controls? I've seen the older control boards for $200. Who needs smart technology. Could there be any other reason for a code 46 besides faulty controller. I have 12.8 volts at the genset terminals. And I've cleaned the ground strap. My onan generator seems to need a new power inverter. Only 420 hours on it. Apparently they are not as good as they claim to be. So far I've read about a number of people with the same problem. I'm getting a code 46, which is batteries or power inverter. I've checked the batteries and connections. Does anyone know if there is a recall on these?
