All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Is 70 the age to stop towingMy DW and I will vendor at 20+ Gun Shows before the year is over. I tow a 20' car hauler with 2008 Solstice and my woodworking equipment (Shopsmith, belt sander, and hand tools) inside. I make and sell hunting and folding knives plus wooden rings and other wooden jewelry. At 73, I expect to be traveling (with trailer) for at least another decade. We are in Texas now for the next few weeks and are headed for California/Oregon. About May, we will head East towards Ohio and then on to New York. Hopefully by this November, we will be in Florida. Every year we intend to slow down some, but the money is too good to pass up. We see a lot of the US and can see any part we please. Happy Travels, LewRe: So what are your plans for 2017?On the average, we do 15 - 20 shows each year. This year the first 5 were/are in Texas and then it's on to California/Oregon. In June we head East to Nebraska/Indiana and will end up in Florida for Thanksgiving. We haul the tools (lathe, bandsaw, drill (Shopsmith) and others) in a car hauler trailer. We do a lot of the work at the shows (parking lot) or at the RV park we are staying at. Mostly, we sell custom knives, wood rings and other wood jewelry. Happy Travels LewRe: water pressureIf it's connected to city supply, pull the inlet where the water hose is connected. There is/should be a check valve (stops water from coach from backing into the city supply) here. It could be limiting water from entering coach. If it's not connected to city supply (pump running), the pump could be bad or another check valve (at the pump). Happy Travels, LewRe: magnum boost hybrid inverterDon, Way back when....(in electronics school) we used CLD's (current limiting diodes) to limit current and Zener diodes to limit voltage. Lots of electronics sites can give you details on sizes, etc. Try futureelectronics.com. Happy Travels, LewRe: Strawberry Festival FlIf you decide on Tampa East, make reservations early. Some years the park is pretty full (the Canadians haven't left yet plus festival visitors). We usually make our reservations a year early. We will stop in on March 5th to listen to Crystal Gayle and eat a few strawberries. Next stop will be the All Florida Rodeo in Arcadia on the 9th of March. Happy Travels.... I have a 2006 American Tradition 40Z.I have a problem with my Magnum energy system it is showing a backfeed fault on the remote and the generator will run but no power to anything. Has any one else had this problem any help would be appreciated. Thanks Ron Ron, I'll give it a shot....not knowing how your system is wired. The 'backfeed' fault says that the inverter output has sensed an AC voltage on it's AC output. The inverter has shutdown due to the fault and you will need to perform a 'manual reset' to the inverter. To do a manual reset: Hold the 'power on' button down for 15 seconds until the inverter status led begins to flash, then release the 'power on' button and the led should stop flashing. Hopefully everything will work forever after....If not you will need to check for any sub-panel that the inverter's AC output is attached to, any circuit breakers shorted, wiring shorted, etc. Happy Travels, LewRe: Another solar controller questionI use an AC fusible disconnect box. Wire the positive from the PV panels to one side. Then wire the positive from the charge controller (to the batteries) to the 2nd side. All you need to do is pull the disconnect to remove both fuses and isolate the controller from the PV's and the batteries. Don't forget the use a 300 amp fuse between the batteries and the inverter. Happy Trails, LewRe: Solar Panel L BracketsUse three (3) 1 1/2" #10 SS wood screws in each bracket. Put down a good sized blob of Dicor first, set the bracket down on top of the Dicor, drive in the 3 screws (loosely). Do all 4 corners likewise and then tighten all screws. Last but not least cover each bracket with a nice coating of Dicor. Never have seen a panel come loose yet.... Lew PS: Make sure the panel is wired to the combiner box before its fastened down.Re: More Onan 2.8KW questions - carburetor Joecool255 wrote: I bought mine used so the maint. history is unknown. The main problem seems to be finding someone that knows all about them. You are however the first I have heard of not having any problems with Onan. Guess they do make a good one every now and then. The only thing wrong with Onan Gensets is where RV Manufacturers put them. I used to be (still am) a Level II Onan Tech and I found that most times you couldn't begin to work on the genset until you could get it out and on a bench or shop floor. Happy Travels, LewRe: refrigerator brands is one better than the other ?When my DW and I bought our one year old Jayco Seneca, the refer quit cooling like it should have been. Even tho it was still under warranty, I decided to replace it with a large Amana. It took some serious work but we finally got the Dometic out and the Amana in. I installed two extra batteries, two solar panels (250 watts ea) and an inverter (solely for the refer). The refer is super cold even when we are boondocking in an asphalt parking lot at some horse show. It was 104 degrees outside yesterday and the Amana worked just fine. I also installed two small 120v fans behind the Amana to exhaust any heat built up. Happy Travels.....Lew
