The only travel trailer we've had is a Heartland, toyhauler, and I'd consider it to be of good quality, although at 5 years old, it is very lightly used. Speaking of, have you considered a toyhauler? We wuz looking for a TT after selling our truck camper. Not wanting bunks and light duty, barely capable chassis for the weight, got on the toyhauler kick. For overall interior space and ability to sleep alot of people, a comparable size TH (peon "garage") kills most TTs in this regard. Aside from heavy tongue weight, if alot of "space" and # of people sleeping arrangements are wanted, the toyhauler wins. They also genrally have larger tank capacities and more of them with built in gennys (blessing or curse...). Knowing that I'm going down the road with 7k axles and 16" tires with a trailer that is only carrying maybe 4000-4500lbs per axle is nice too. And I spent like $40 and made the ramp into a back deck. Open air concept with the screen and canvas wall at the back are nice in nice weather too. Food for thought. Thanks, that makes sense. I have been searching Toy Haulers and cannot find any in my budget with bunks. I am trying to find something that 3 teenagers,a 9 year old and my wife/myself can comfortably sleep/ live in. I like the idea of heavier/stronger frame and build though. Thank youRe: Reliable camperThanks for all the replies. Yeah, the F250 is only 4x2 but it does have the 8' bed and crew cab, so 4 full size doors and seats. When I go to the dump she comes in around 7200K with a full tank. It does have the camper package so electric brake wired and extra cooler and leafs.Re: Reliable camperGood info, thank you Thermoguy!Reliable camperHi all, I know this is a loaded question but what is a good brand of travel trailer? We are getting rid of our 1994 Callista Cove 27' Class C and going with something we can pull with my 2000 F250 7.3. Also that can sleep at least 6 adults (3 teenagers) and have some pop-outs My neighbor had a pull behind (Springdale summerland series) and has had nothing but problems. We were looking at Grand Design. We also want to stay below 30K if possible. Thanks in advance, Semper FiTransferring Propane?Hey all, Long time not being on here. My wife and I have made the difficult decision to donate our 1994 28' Callista Cove RV. The kids are growing up and gas is stupid expensive (it has the Ford 7.5 460). A lot of incredible memories in that beast. I was wondering that before donating if I could refill some of my empty 20LB Propane tanks from the on-board tank. Just curious as it is about 75% full and hate that $$ to be gone. Thanks in advance, and stay safe out there. Semper Fi AndrewRe: Apollo Diesel generatorsThanks for all the input folks. I guess my idea behind the diesel was that I would get more hrs per gallon of fuel and longevity of the generator itself. It would be used mostly for on the road electric since most places we would stay at would have full hookups. We were out West 2 summers ago and the regular AC was not enough to cool the entire RV, pretty grumpy kids. Thanks Semper FiRe: Apollo Diesel generatorsThanks for your responses. According to the online manual http://www.apolloindustrial.com/upfile/AED6500SR%20Manual this is the Noise level dBA/7m (zero load?full load) 69-74 Not terrible. The weight is an issue though. Semper FiApollo Diesel generatorsHello, I am thinking of getting a portable diesel generator to place on our luggage rack (Hevy duty) behind our Class C to power the electric and AC while driving. Has anyone heard of Apollo generators? More specifically the AED6500SR? It is rated at 6.3KW Single Phase. I can buy a new one for about $650 Thank you Semper FiRe: 1995 Carriage Callista CoverI have a 1994 Callista Cove 28' with the 460 in it. I purchased it in 2010 with 38K miles for $10,000. The engine is a beast, very powerfull but also very thirsty. We have driven it to Sonora Mexico, all over the Western USA and back here to Maryland. The only problem we have had was the transmission needed to be replaced. That was probably our fault for towing a very heavy trailer and a fully loaded RV cross country during our move. Great RV and always a fun time when we take it out on the weekends. We have almost 60K miles on it and plan to keep it for a lonng time. Ohh, I did have to re-coat the roof with liquid EPDM, awesome stuff!! Semper FiRe: What did you do to your Class C MH today???Drove the girl 3K miles from Mexico to Texas and back. Then had to have the ECM board replaced, plugs, wires, hoses, rear diff service and belts..ohh yeah and a new rebuilt tranny from FORD...Trip cost 5K beside gas, food and RV parks...Ohh well at least now she runs like new :-)
