Lots of variance by year and model. I regret not buying a SRW F350. No size difference from F250 and both or rough daily drivers as a Super Duty but the extra payload is nice. If you decide diesel, definitely go with one ton because the heavier diesel will negate much of your payload gains with the 3/4 ton. I'm not a fan of towing with half tons but they really have gained capabilities in recent years, at least regarding a 7500 lb TT so they might be a model out there that suits your needs.Re: SolarLots of great info on YouTube. Once you watch a couple, the popular ones will be suggested by YouTube. Pair those with the advice given here. I'm not new to RVs but new to solar and learning myself right now. I would definitely go lithium batteries. Dealt with enough battery issues over years that I'll take higher initial costs for better performance and similar costs over time. There are special considerations for lithium on your other components so may sure everything is matched.Re: In Quartzsite, thinking of Montanna.. don’t like mountains..Define flat. Lot's of mountains out West. Part of the beauty. Sierras aren't the rockies but they are more anything back East. If you are crossing on I-10, it probably isn't too bad but it's all relative. Crossing at Lake Tahoe to cut back to Montana has decent climbs. Not sure about going further north before cutting back East.Re: Ford vehicles---peeling paint?Same here as most. I had a 1990 Ranger that lost nearly all the paint on hood and roof but Ford only covered warranty on first owner for Ranger (any owner on F-150). That was frustrating since a Lariat extended cab cost a student much as a bare bones F-150. Had a 2007 F-150 with no problems through 2016 when I sold it and a 2012 F-250 that I currently drive.Re: 4-Week August Family TripWe made similar trips in miles and sites when kids were 5 and 8, again 7 and 10, and then finally 12 and 15 years old. Your kids will find fun what they do from a young age. They still love to camp at 15 and 18. Both girls. As far throw away the plan, it's not feasible using vacation but you should build flexibility. We booked national parks and then winged it on zig zags to see states. We did no more than 2 days hard drive without a stop. Preferred full day drive then half day drive and half site see during transit. I would not add Rushmore. Biggest disappointment for us and we've been to 48 states. Given your ambitious schedule, Arches one day and Canyon Lands a second day. Use the other day and a half to see someone on the way and break up the four day drive to the Grand Canyon. You will need that. I don't think you can get to GCNP in four days anyway and I've driven most of that route many times, though only Louisiana to AZ frequently as one trip. Be willing to flex. A blow out cost us a day at Yellowstone. We couldn't tack on a night camping because of availability but we did stay half a day past our planned departure and flexed later in that trip. Bailed on Rushmore after an hour. If we had planned hikes, maybe it would be different but as part of a larger trip it wasn't worth it. Those aren't on your agenda but you will find places where you need to flex. Know that in advance. And have fun!Re: Slide repair in Yuma?F-troop, hoping for a lower hourly rate with mobile repair since folks aren't covering overhead of a big shop. We'll see. Btw, I lived in Hanford once upon a time.Re: Slide repair in Yuma?Foothills RV was on my list from googling last night. Will try to call both tomorrow.Re: 36 ft FW vs 30 ft TT backingJust moved to 5er in December and it's kicking my butt learning to cut soon enough and running out of clearance on front of truck. Very frustrating since I've been backing various bumper pulls since I was 14 (on a tractor). Wife is learning to give better directions but hasn't figured out I'm giving all I can and it just takes longer to react. I've never feared a spot I couldn't back in but I'm choosing carefully for now with a fifth wheel. Can you get a good look on Google Earth to see about room for the front of the truck?Re: Slide repair in Yuma?Found one in Foothills with good reviews on Yelp. Wondered if there was someone with personal experience. I do figure a mobile repair or independent shop will be much quicker and hopefully cheaper than a dealer.Slide repair in Yuma? The bolts on the shaft to one of my slides are sheared and the the square tubing around the shaft is warped and the bolt hole is elongated causing slip issues even with a new bolt. Anyone know a place in Yuma they recomend? I'm a DIY'er but not sure about tackling this. Have a spot on roof I'd like looked at too but thinking about doing that myself. My issue is a place to work on it since I can't store it at home. Issue is on 5th Wheel from sig: 2008 Rockwood Signature Ultralite 8288
