I looked at the older Prevosts (2000) and they're all way too Miami vice for me inside. I don't care for laquer furnishings, and I can't afford anything more contemporary. I think I'm going to have to up my price range to the low to mid $200's, to get what I want. But now I have a slew of new questions, which I will probably save for new threads. Thanks again. ErnieRe: What are the better brandsThats a good point. The main purpose is not for the horse, its for my wife and I. I just want the "Capability" to tow the horse trailer when the need arises. Most of the places I would go, have Tarmac parking areas for large horse trailers, I would just unhook the trailer and go somewhere else if need be. I want a Motor Coach first and foremost, the horsey thing is secondary. I didn't mention but I'm also a pilot and like going to air shows, primarily Sun& Fun and Oshkosh, thats another reason for the MH, hotels are nearly impossible to get, but they have huge MH facilities. ErnieRe: What are the better brandsAfter searching online a bit, I'm willing to go to around 10 years old to get a higher end coach (very unscientific) But heres another newbie question. What is considered high miles? I saw a beautiful 2000 Prevost in my price range but it had 145k miles. If I use an average of 40 MPH over the life of it, then it's about 3625 hours on the motor and drivetrain. In boating terms thats average for a 13 year old, and I prefer something thats been used rather than something that just sat and rotted for 5 years. ErnieRe: What are the better brandsYes I have noticed the pattern. Thanks for the tip on the Magazine, that was going to be my next question. Thanks Again ErnieRe: What are the better brandsI don't ride, my wife does trail riding. I dont drive anything with a mind of its own :) I agree, I may be willing to go a bit older, seeing some very nice older models on Ebay motors.Re: What are the better brandsThanks to all for your comments, is really does help. Part of the fun is the learning process, but i always try to leverage as much "local knowledge" before venturing forward. I noticed a few boaters that posted, and your comparisons to existing boats were very helpful. My first boat was a C&C 29 very nice, Then I had a 53' Hatteras Motor Yacht, real dog. Currently have a 40' Nordhavn on the market. But enough of that this is an RV not a boat forum. I would love a Prevost, but waaaay out of my budget. I will look at entegra, since I havent even hear of them. 1 more question, what are reputable dealers and who should I stay away from? I have a North Trails RV in Ft Myers Fl, and a camp world, or something like that. Thanks again. ErnieRe: What are the better brandsI went to North Trails RV in Ft Myers FLorida today and saw a few, many that I didn't like but saw 1 that was pretty nice, a 2013 40' Tuscany XTE 1600 miles DP asking $180k. Floor plan was perfect, but I couldnt tell if that was a steal or waaaay over priced. Didnt have to much in the way of extras, on the outside like BBQ, or Entertainment center, but thats not terribly important to me, since I'm assuming I can add later if needed. Comment welcome.Re: What are the better brandsNewmar Tiffin Winnebago and Fleetwood is what I've gathered here. Thanks ErnieRe: What are the better brands6500 lbs is total gross weight including 2 horses and trailer. I already have a 2 horse bumper pull, and will only tow it "Sometimes" Horse trailers with living quarters require a large gooseneck capable pickup truck, been there done that. I want a class A. I undertand about Chevy vs Ford comparisons, but since a Rexhall sounds like a drug store to me, dont know what to run away from. What are the better brandsSorry for the vague questions but I am brand new to RV ing. I've been into motor and sailing yachts for over 30 years so I understand the difference between a Sea Ray and a Hinkley, but i have no such reference for Motor coaches. I've read the helpful posts for 1st time buyers and the FAQ, but would just like to be able to eliminate the dogs, and and have a short list of the good brands to concentrate on. I have a good back ground on diesel engines, generators, inverters, AC and DC systems, black/grey/fresh waters systems etc. From what I've read I have concluded the following criteria which outlines my mission profile. 35 to 40 ft diesel pusher, just me and my wife. I'll be mostly a parker I want a private bathroom not open I need to tow a 6500 lb horse trailer some times I want a quality fit and finish, no particle board, or cheap panelling No earlier than 2010 No more than 30000 miles Good driveability Good resale I dont intend to drive across the country any time soon, this will be mostly for weekend jaunts, when my wife goes horse back riding and i need an air conditioned retreat to drink beer. I live in Florida, and will pretty much stay in the state. My budget is around $150k. I look forward to some suggested brands/models that i should be looking at. Thanks Ernie
