We like peace & quiet, not the typical 'crowded rv park' experience... We don't use the pool, the rec room, or the bathrooms(we brought our own)... We tow a 28' trailer with a suburban... no kids... 1 dog... Looking for advice on a few destinations to stay, maybe near water... Thanks... Nate & MarieRe: Tow rig advice needed...Maybe we should be looking at Avalanches too..!!..Re: Tow rig advice needed...Great info all... I think we'll keep looking for an 8.1L..!!.. any advice on how many miles these big engines last..??.. We have found a few with 175k+ miles... Nate & MarieTow rig advice needed...We're looking into upgrading our tow vehicle... We currently drive a '93 Suburban 2500 4wd 7.4L... We tow a 28' Arctic Fox... about 10k lbs... Our old rig tows it well, a little slow up the mountains, but no complaints... We are looking at some newer Suburbans, 2000 to 2005... We are thinking we need the 8.1L 2500 4wd rig... but we keep seeing rigs that have the 6.0L engine... Does anyone have advice/experience with the 6.0L vs the 8.1L..??.. Fuel mileage is not important between the two, as we currently get about 7mpg average when towing... Thanks... Nate & Marie .Looking for toilet upgrade advice...Hey all... After getting a new toilet at our home, taller & longer... We're unhappy with the one in out Arctic Fox trailer... We're looking for some advice & what others have done to upgrade... We are very capable & will do the work ourselves... Thanks... NatePropane...We have dual propane tanks on the tongue, under a plastic cover... What's the easy way to check levels & not run out of propane..??.. Thanks... NateRe: Advice for inverter installationIf I were doing it... I'd use a 'strain relief' for the wall penetration... they tighten to the wall with a nut, & have a rubber seal where the cord/wire goes through that is tightened down after the wire is passed through... NateRe: Question about WD Hitch MudChucker wrote: Funny...so let's firs think about this. You hook up your trailer your front wheels are in the air, 4x4FF and I hook some pipes to the rear bumper and we lift as hard as we can to level the truck back out. Westend wants to drive away, 4x4FF and I would rather drink beer than ru n with these pipes in our hands so we chain them to the A frame of the trailer That's your WD bars I action. So...if all your doing is lifting the back end to level out the trailer, corecting the geometry and redistributing the load on the tow vehicle... What will the bars do the the air bags won't ? Exactly nothing. Sorry... but nope... with airbags... the pin-point center of the load is still centered behind the rear axle... With bars... the load is transferred somewhere forward of the rear connection point... thus loading the front axle more... Air bags would actually make it slightly worse... raising the vertical height of the fulcrum point of the load... causing more 'prying force' on the truck frame... especially in a turn or side load... It's geometry... NateRear bumper bracket/mountHey all... We have an Arctic Fox trailer with a nice end-cap enclosed rear bumper... We'd like to mount a generator/fuel storage box out back, but the mount would have to come from underneath the trailer... or even a bike rack back there... any ideas..??.. anyone else figured this out..??.. Thanks... Nate .Jack padsHey all... I'm thinking about cutting some wood for 4 jack pads... I'm looking for advice on size/shape from your experiences... Thanks... Nate
