All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: "Don't Buy New"Bought a new Lance Camper in 1996. Still have it. We just bought a new travel trailer. I don't care about depreciation. I'm retired, and plan to keep this RV as long as I can stay on the road. I might add that my hubby is a cancer survivor. That definitely changes a person's perspective. If you plan to keep your RV then buy new. If your going to turn around and buy five, four or whatever down the road, maybe then buy used. We are lucky to have only owned two. I suggest looking at Outdoors RV. Absolutely great quality.Possible Damaged Slide SealsI was looking online at a TT and noticed in one of the pics the slide seal seems to be hanging outside the trailer. Even after enlarging the picture, it's seems that is the most probable thing. It's black, coming out from the slide opening and connects on both ends to the slide opening. If that's the case, what would it take to replace the seal? Is it an extensive repair? Or, should I turn and run? I might add the price of the trailer is great, compared to my research online. Your expertise is NEEDED!Bedroom Slides LeakingHas anyone experienced leaking in their bedroom ward slides? My husband and I are going back and forth on getting a TT with a ward with a slide. He says no because they are prone to leaks. We did see a trailer on a sales lot that has a leak and it was a new trailer??? Now he doesn't want to consider one. Help?Re: Your Thoughts on Camping with a smaller Travel TrailerWe have owned a camper since 1996, yes 1996. We raised our kids camping. As they grew they up they transitioned to tents. We traveled to Oregon the last two years. Our last trip was 7 weeks with two large dogs that slept inside. This year we are moving up!!! My point is, if you both enjoy camping you can make anything work. I just want a good bed and not trip over my dogs any more. LolRe: Valve stems...do the go bad?We had a valve stem go out on our truck which was loaded with our camper. LUCKILY it blew just few minutes after we took a break on the highway. The highway was a steep descent. Should that valve stem blown on that highway, I wouldn't be here to respond!Re: Negotiating a PurchaseWhile my name implies a newbie, we are not new to RVing. We have a 1996 Lance which we factory ordered. Depreciation yes. However, that depreciation was well spent in the many years we spent raising our kids in the outdoors. I have looked for two years for a used model/make we want and can't find one. I'm willing to take that depreciation so my retirement years are well spent traveling with my hubby. We have dreamed for this adventure for many years and no amount of depreciation will take it from us. Cancer survivor. ??Re: Outdoors RV Trailers & Thermal PaneFour seasons construction (for lack of a better word) is fully enclosed and heated underbelly, including tank, R15 insulation, one inch thick doors on storage areas ,insulated vent covers, etc. You would need to look at the Outdoors RV website to see the rest of the features. I can't recall all of them. I haven't seen other trailers with all of the features in the Outdoors product line. Am I missing one?Outdoors RV Trailers & Thermal PaneI have two separate questions. First, thoughts on the Outdoors Timber Ridge TT. We really like this TT and are thinking about be buying it. We love the quality, true four seasons construction, and floor plan. We looked at Artic Fox, but they seem to lack some of the features in the Outdoors TT and they are heavier. Is there anything we're missing? Second, thermal pane windows. Are they worth it. Specifically, the insulation value. We love the big picture in the back of the TT, but I'm worried about heat/cold being an issue. Not concerned about noise or weight. Thoughts?Re: Negotiating a PurchaseThanks so much for your replies. I've been reading this forum and always find it extremely helpful! Anyone have any info to share regarding Outdoors RV trailers? We have our sights on a Timber Ridge. From everything we have seen, it seems to be a well built TT. One more thing, yes or no to thermo pane windows. I don't care about noise. I'm more interested in the insulation factor. Thanks!Negotiating a PurchaseMy hubby and I are buying a new TT this year. If you factory order a TT, do you lose bargaining power? if so, does it make sense to buy what is on the lot and add options later?
