I am concerned about adequate support for the power visors , each came with 2 mounting brackets. The mounting surface will be the vinyl covered bottom of the entertainment center cabinets that are over the dash. The wood covered by the vinyl feels pretty thin and I don't feel just great about this wood being able to hold the visors securely. Also have a similar problem on the side shades . One end of each one will be mounted on just plastic trim. Also , where is the best place to tap in to 12Volts to power the powered ones ? Hopefully someone has installed these and will have some advice ! Thanks MarkRe: Motorized Windshield SunshadesWell , I finally decided to go with the Carefree shades. They were on sale . I thought I wanted the MCDs , but it just made no sense. I'll have $560 in then vs about $2k for the MCDs. If our coach newer , i would have gone with the MCDs. Thanks for your input !Motorized Windshield SunshadesLast summer I drove our 99 Monaco Windsor out west. The afternoon sun was a killer while driving . I have had motorized sunscreens before and they helped tremendously. A couple of weeks ago ,( in a weak moment ! ) I had the windshield measured for an MCD duo motorized sun screen and shade. I was pretty excited about it , but I;m not sure I want to put that much money into it on a 15 year old coach. Carefree has some split motorized sunscreens that would probably serve my intended purpose. They are substantially less than the MCD shade. Has anyone used these ? If so , please give me your opinion. http://www.carefreeofcolorado.com/carefree/products?action=product&productid=70&tab= Thanks !Updating Old Directv equipmentI've been dealing with some heavy duty health issues for the last 8-9 years and am way behind the 8 ball on the latest and best Directv setup for home/Motorhome. Presently I have 10 year old equipment (non HD) I just take a receiver with me in the MH when we travel. I would like to get HD and have a new DVR and still be able to take a receiver with me when we travel. I currently have none of the multiswitch setups at home or in the RV. Looks like I should stay with Direct over Dish because I watch a lot of college football. Any advice would be appreciated on what would be the best multi-room setup for home and the motorhome ? Thanks !Millenicom Router needed ?I am ordering Millenicom's 20G monthly service. The 3 g store thinks I need a Pepwave Router for best results. Should I order one or just try the Verizon MiFi hotspot by itself first ? ThanksRe: Outside tv additionBlucrabbie, I sold the Phaeton , and have no pictures , however , I can assure you it looked just like it came from the factory that way . Just look at some pictures of Tiffins with the TV door on the PS slideout , and that is how it looked. Bruce is a master of Motorhome bodywork. He had to move our furnace over some to make it happen. I talked him in to doing this TV Cabinet mod on the Phaeton back in 2008. I was told by the factory it could not be done. He has done hundreds of these since thenRe: Outside tv additionBruce Deaton does this all the time. He added an outside cabinet and painted the door to match our 2007 Phaeton. It looked like it came from the factory like that. It's an awesome addition if you are a Tailgater and entertain outside. A friend with a Newmar Essexx had Bruce add this to his coach after he saw mine , and was thrilled He is in Red Bay AL. The cabinet was purchased from Tiffin Parts I'm not sure what size TV Tiffin is using on the outside. At the time ours was a 32" , but suspect the new cabinets are designed for a larger TV. The cost was a fraction of what you're quoting . Tell him Mark Evans sent you. (No financial interest , just a very happy customer !) http://rvservicereviews.com/ReviewDetails.asp?FacilityID=1184&State=AL&Search=&CategoryID=Re: Class A PaintingCheck with Bruce Deaton in Red Bay AL. He is great and very reasonable. He has done several smaller paint jobs for me. Price just depends on the design , but what I saw was in the 8-12,000 range. http://rvservicereviews.com/ReviewDetails.asp?FacilityID=1184&State=AL&Search=&CategoryID=Re: High altitude driving issuesI agree with most of the advice given here. I've been driving in high altitudes for many years. It is normal to run a little hotter , however if you are running temps high enough to be harmful , I would certainly clean the charge air cooler and the radiator fins with a good degreaser. This is probably the culprit from what you describe. For the last several years we have been in the CO mountains going over passes between 11,000 - 12,000 feet. As someone else mentioned , it is very important to keep your RPMs up by downshifting while going up these grades. The lower the RPMs the lower the fan speed. If the temps start increasing too much, back off your speed. The best way to monitor all this is with a Silverleaf monitoring system. Using one of these systems can really help put you in control of these situations. I use a Silverleaf VMSPC . I don't like to be without it. Good Luck !
