I am so excited for the weekend!Re: When do you have to light pilot light? hermandutchman wrote: It probably means fail. Sometimes you have to try several times to get the air out of the line. Try what several times? I am downloading the manual. :)Re: When do you have to light pilot light? So last night I turned on the gas and set the mode to Auto. Even tried the gas mode. The display on the frig read "F". What does that mean? I thought maybe it meant Fail so I turned off the gas and just plugged in the electricity and all was well. I will just unplug when I drive this afternoon and then plug it back in.Re: How is the Chevy Traverse towing 5000 lbs?Make sure the Tahoe has the proper gear ratio and tow package. I learned that the hard way recently.Re: When do you have to light pilot light?I swear the guy I bought it from showed me a pilot light. I didn't light it last time and everything worked but I didn't use the oven. Didn't test the hot water that I remember. It was just overnight. This is the first real trip for 3 days. I know Ive read its bad to have the gas on when driving. It's only 3 hours so I thought I could shut it off while driving and it might stay cold enough that it doesnt take forever to cool off when I got there. Does leaving the frig on gas for a day or two use alot of gas? When do you have to light pilot light?Haven't used the pilot light yet. Only used the TT once so far. It took a very long time for the refrig to get cool when we turned it on. I will be doing mostly weekend trips. I thought I would turn on the frig and set the mode to gas the night before I was leaving to get it cool. Question is do you need to light the pilot light for that or is that only for hot water? I don't have a manual for the camper and thought this would be the quickest way to find out. Thanks!Re: Tire questionI suppose this means P rated, P275/60R20 So you fill back ones to 40ish when towing and leave front at 32? For some reason I thought if you didn't have the tires inflated to where they were suppose to be, they wouldn't wear correctly? I always inflate my boat and campers tires to what they list as Max PSI because I was told to do that. Not very mechanical....can you tell :)Tire questionI just got new tires and they state inflate to 44 PSI. Why did the dealer only put 32 PSI in them? I believe that is what it says to do on the door but these are different tires than what came on them new. For proper wear and towing, do I want the Max PSI?Re: Best SUV for towing But you have (except trans cooler) better gearing than a 10 year old half ton with 4.10 axle rated for 8k+ pounds. The difference in tow rating between 3.08 and 3.42 is less than 500 pounds. The HD towing group with trans cooler takes the 3.42 from 5500 pounds to 8000 just by having the trans cooler. Be careful about adding a lot of weight to the rear of the RV. Frames are not usually designed to handle 500 pounds off the rear. And it can really upset the tongue weight percentage and handling. Thank u I didn't know putting stuff on the bumper is not a good idea. I see people do it all the time. I don't begin to understand all the gearing "stuff" you guys are talking about. People like me expect the stated tow capacity to be the true capacity - not based on all these factors you have to figure out.
