The Andersen Ultimate Hitch is not approved by Lippert, our frame manufacturer, to work with their chassis. We do have several customers that use this set up, however if there is damage resulting in improper use and/or setup, Lippert and GDRV would not be able to cover the warranty work. See! I wasn’t trolling! No you were not trolling. I called Lippert this past July as we were purchasing a GD 303. Dealer wanted to put a AUH hitch in, so I went home and did some research. Ended up calling GD, who referred me to Lippert techline. I was told on the phone, that Lippert will not warranty a trailer frame that was damaged due to use of the AUH. Said he had two cases on his desk that were being denied. Plus the photos of the lady in Texas that had one collapse on her was more than enough for me.Re: Aluminum Scissor Steps QuestionI'm 31.5" to the top of the bumper on my AF990. Here is a photo of the 4 step that I got from Step Up Products in Eugene. http://step-upproducts.com/ The hitch clears the second step with stinger and ball attached. Re: What truck camper is on your 2500hd deisel2003 Quad cab, with AF990. Mods in signature. No issues.Re: Who has a camper with a slide on single wheel truckJust over 40,000 camping miles with the rig in my signature. Sure I had to add air bags, sway bar, and shocks. Plus I run 126 load index tires (3750 per tire). I can run up the highway at or just above speed limits (curves included) without any undue stress. With the Cummins motor, I do not want for power, and every camp I go to is uphill. ~4000-5000 ft from the house. My loaded weights run 11500-11,700. Would I replace my current rig for a dually, no. If I had a dedicated pickup for just the camper it would probably be a dually. But I have to use my truck for other things.Re: 05 Arctic Fox Cold weather capabilities?Camped last November for 5 days in 0 at night to 20 above during the day. I had to run the Honda2000 on the fourth day to recharge batteries, and burned just over 1 tank of propane. No issues other than some condensation after cooking. I did push the slide in while we were away to reduce the heated area.Re: Slideouts: Benefits and drawbacksWe had a non-slide camper for 10 years before we purchased our AF990. The space with the slide out is worth every ounce of weight. It is just DW and a 90lb Chesapeake dog, but in the Oregon wet, things can get crowded. Our camper came with the slide awning installed, so we have not experienced any issues with snow/water coming in the camper. Our neighbor had a TT with a slide, no awning and he had several stories of snow/water in the trailer. I have had the awning flap in high winds, so I bought a cheap blow up beach ball, partially inflate it and stuff it under the awning if it is windy. Keeps the noise down. As for getting in/out with the slide retracted, I do not find it an obstacle at all. We extend and retract as needed.Re: Exploring IdahoI would plan on seeing Sun Valley, Redfish Lake (south of Stanley) Stanley, Sunbeam area, (Old gold dredging area north of Stanley), Challis and Salmon. You should find plenty of Forest Service campgrounds along the Salmon river corridor.Re: Generator storage?Just curious, I thought all the AF campers had the same size generator compartment. My Honda 2000 fit, but just barely, so I dropped the floor of the generator compartment another 2 1/2". I just welded some straps to the angle iron supports that held the floor up, and bolted those straps to the original holes. I then went to the local boat dealer and had a sheet of 3/16" aluminum cut to fit the floor. The floor of the compartment is 10x times more rigid now than with the plywood that was in there. I can post pics if you need them.Re: Question about standard jack practiceI too use the all up. My fronts do run just a bit slower than the rear so in a typical load, from all down to 26" I will have to stop, run the fronts for about 5 seconds more to catch up with the rears. Believe it is because the fronts have more weight.Re: Banks Lake, WaFWIW http://www.fishingnotes.com/lakeinfo.php?id=31556
