I politely smile and wave to them. Finish filling up, go into the store and get an iced tea and a snack. If they have lottery tickets I might buy a few scratchers and scratch them off while in the store. Then use the restroom one more time and slowly make my way back to the car, wave and smile once again. I get in the car, adjust my mirrors and see what radio stations I can find. Then slowly make my way out of the station, all the while thinking "What a jerk that guy in the diesel was". On the other hand, if one doesn't act like a jerk behind me, I will quickly fill up and leave so they can have the pump. You always reap what you sow.Re: National Parks and the Lack of Adequate # of Camp Sites NCWriter wrote: This year I tried online to get a site in Yosemite for midweek in May but they all sold out immediately and there aren't many close to the park entrance. So we will stay at the KOA in the town of Mariposa about 45 minutes away. While reading a guidebook, I discovered that there is a low cost shuttle called YARTS (Yosemite Area Regional Transportation system) that picks up right at the KOA and takes you into numerous points in the Yosemite Valley. Senior price runs about $9 roundtrip per person. We do the same thing a for Sequoia NP. We stay at the KOA in Visalia and take the shuttle from Visalia to the park and back. Cost is $15.00 round trip and includes park entrance fee. Once in the park there are free shuttles to all the major sites within the park. I believe this is a good solution to reduce the strain on the park system.Re: Noisy kids, drunks, rude people, dog dung DutchmenSport wrote: Gripe number 2: Cigarette butts left all over a campsite when the previous 'tenant' has left! That gripes my claw bigger than anything! It's nasty, disgusting, dirty, and RUDE to the next camper. I've picked up so damn many cigarette butts at campgrounds it's a wonder I haven't caught some kind of disease! I AM NOT COMPLAINING about your right to smoke or not! I'M COMPLAINING ABOUT YOUR NASTY DISREGARD TO COMMON DECENCY! WHAT DO YOU THINK IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO THAT STUPID BUTT ON THE GROUND... DO YOU REALLY THINK A BIRD WILL COME ALONG AND EAT IT OR SOMETHING... NO! SOMEONE HAS TO PICK UP YOUR NASTY MESS! Now... you want a good battle ... respond to these two issues! Dutchman- My wife and I both smoke and you will get no argument from us on this one. When we pull in to a site the first thing out of the trailer is an ashtray and it is the last thing we pack when we leave. We make sure all the buts are out and they go in the trash not the fire ring. I too get frustrated when I police my site of others cigarette butts. We believe in the old rule of leaving our site better than we found it. My gripe is the dog owners who feel they are above the rules and don't leash their dogs or use a leash longer than a 6 foot.I have owned and loved dogs all my life but I don't want yours running through my space.Re: "so called big rig friendly rv parks""UM, max length 55 sounds like big rigs should fit!" OP's rig MH + trailer totals 58 ft. A little research on the part of the OP would have revealed his rig was TOO BIG for the park.Re: ~Post your campsite photos here~San Mateo Campground in San Onofre State Beach, CA Re: Cheap RV camp ground in Southern CAYucaipa is great Prado Regional is a nice weekend get away except for the traffic on the 91 getting there. ONEILL REGIONAL PARK, CAnear Lake Forest is also nice ($20/night no hook ups) with a lot of big trees.Re: Buyer bewareWe spent an afternoon at Mike Thompson's when looking for our first trailer intending to pay cash. We found what we wanted and informed the salesperson we would have to think it over and would call him when we had cash in hand. I called two weeks later when we had the cash freed up and I was informed they didn't have that particular model on their lot but he would check another lot. I gave him my cell number and six years later I am still waiting for his call back. Needless to say that weekend we went to a smaller dealer, looked at what they had to offer and drove off with our trailer that day. We kept that trailer for 5 years and just purchased our 2nd trailer from the same dealer paying cash again.Re: Where'd You Start?Started at 7 years of age in my parents Sear Ted Williams tent, Starcraft PUP with no slide outs Starcraft PUP with slide outs 16' Starcraft TT 24' Starcraft TT (which my parents eventually lived in it full time for 1 year when Dad retired). On weekend outings here in southern California I normally do about 15-25mph on the freeway, but then I am just keeping up with the flow of traffic.Re: Driving TunesWhatever the DW puts on the radio ;(.
