Good luck in your pursuit.Renters insuranceI'm considering "renting" one of my RV's to a family member for a few months for them to stay in while working a remote contract position. Do you all know of any way that I could insure the unit during that time? Thanks!Experienced RVer and TH owner looking for model suggestionsWe've been RVing for about 10 years now, started out with a 38' 5th wheel bunkhouse. This was a nice setup for us with the kids having their own space to include a half-bath. A few years ago, we moved to a 32' 5th wheel TH with a 10' garage, no second half-bath, but was a compromise to get a TH that I was comfortable towing with my old truck. I now have a new truck, a 2018 F450, and don't have the weight limits I did before. That being said, we'd like to move up to a larger TH that is more accommodating to our large-ish family (6 total, w/ 4 kids between 10 and 15). Can you all recommend some models that would be a good starting point? The kids need to have their own space/bathroom. Mom and dad don't need a huge bedroom, but shower size is important as I'm 6'5" and about 245 lbs. I'd like a bigger garage than what I have now, but nothing crazy. Thanks in advance for the suggestions!Re: Anyone with a 12' Garage with 3 ATVs?Sorry for hijacking the thread, but I have been wondering about loading two ATVs side by side in my 10' garage. Is that possible? I don't have a second one to test with, but am considering purchasing another.Re: Options to upgrade water heater? dougrainer wrote: WHERE did you get the replacement? Non RV 120 elements are longer. Both Atwood and Suburban state you can run the 120 elements up to 20 minutes dry with no damage. Doug I got it at a local RV parts house. It's a suburban element.Re: Options to upgrade water heater?I'm pretty sure I had burned out the electric heating element because I turned it on with the tank empty by accident for a little while this past weekend, so I replaced it. But, I am curious about the size difference. You can see the two different elements in the picture. It fit fine, so I installed it and tested it out and it seemed to work fine, but do I need to be concerned about the size difference? Hopefully by using both electric and gas at the same time, we will be able to reduce recovery time enough that it won't be as much of an issue when we go camping this weekend. Re: Options to upgrade water heater? wa8yxm wrote: Using both Gas and Electric, at the same time, if possible (not always) improves recovery time Atwood makes a 10 gallon water heater that fits in a six gallon hat. What it does is over heat the water than mix cold in via an automatic mixing valve so you get 2/3 more hot water... NOTE: the mixing valve is an additional point of failure, but I've not heard bad things about them. I'm not sure if this is what you were referring to with the Atwood, but it sounds pretty intriguing. Anyone with personal experience with one of these Atwood XT Water Heaters? This is a system where an additional heater is tapped into the hot water lines to provide auxiliary heating when the main heater drops in temperature. There was a member, here, who installed this system and had praise for it. Sorry, memory fails but a search of the Forum may turn it up. IIRC, he looped the hot water supply into the auxiliary heater at the back of the RV (may have used the ladder as a holder), no alteration to the RV except lengthening the hot water supply line was needed. I did a thorough search and wasn't able to find anything on this, but I'm very interested if anyone can help point me in the right direction.Re: Options to upgrade water heater? Might require some modificstions, but nothing a compentend weekender could not do. Quite a bit different in size, but as you say a weekend job, Just make sure it's a long one. Lol Well, I thought about that, in fact I still have my old rig sitting here so was considering swapping the water heaters. Problem is the holes are significantly different in size. I'm not keen on cutting on the exterior of the new rig.Re: Options to upgrade water heater? downtheroad wrote: What did you pay for....what does the sales contract and build sheet say about the rig you paid for? If you were suppose to get a 12 gal. tank and got a 6 gal one, then push on the dealer to make it right.... No different than paying for slide toppers and not getting them. The rig is a 2012 I bought used through a private sale. My fault for not making sure beforehand, but not something I can go back and make a big deal about with the seller.
