F350 SRW with a Bigfoot 3000 Series Camper - Tires & Sway
Hey everyone! I'm a fairly new Owner of a 2012 F350 crew cab 8 ft box and a 2002 Bigfoot 3000 Series truck camper. Based on the research I've done, I know I'm pushing (past) the limits of this truck, which has a payload sticker rating of 1722 kg. I'm not planning on doing anything too crazy in terms of off-road, etc. Getting a dually is also not an option for me currently. Truck is equipped with LT275/70R18E 125/122Q and air bags. I have just taken it on 50% loaded test rides/short trips so far and it held up pretty well. Knowing the limits are being pushed here though, I want to put the truck in the best position possible to handle the load and sway before I get too carried away. I intend to do what I can for camper weight loss/control. Is there any advantage to changing the tires to something wider or F rating? Axle rating appears to be limiting factor already, assuming I'm checking this all correctly.. Anyone have similar experiences? What upgrades have added the most value? Tires? Sway bar? Leaf springs? Hear me out, I’ve called dmv several times and every answer is different. I’ve spoken with owners of trucks that I’m considering purchasing and some don’t know about cvra fees and some say it doesn’t apply. However it’s definitely a thing, right? Hence the dmv form 4008 https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/uploads/2024/10/REG-4008-R5-2015-ASB-WWW.pdf I do not intend or foresee myself using the truck for commercial purposes nor am I for hire. I do intend to use it for daily driving, the summer recreational boat haul, perhaps a 5th wheel in the future, Home Depot errands, etc. Does cvra apply to me? Help me out, share your experience with this please, if any147Views0likes6CommentsWhat are the best tires for a 2005 30’ Ford E-450 Super Duty Four Winds Majestic
I have used Michelin LT Defender 225/75/R16 for the last 6 years and they have been great but 2 of them now have cuts in the sidewall so I need to replace them. Michelin have discontinued the tire in this size and to replace them I have been recommended the Yokohama YKHDX or the Firestone T Force T3 - any comments / suggestions appreciated - Thanks - A62Views0likes1Comment
