Converting two 30amps to one 50amp for RV camping
Greetings!
We are new to RVing and, of course, our first extended stay requires a unique hookup. Converting two 30amps to one 50amp. We have been advised to buy a quality converter from sources like Camping World. Do we need an extenstion for the two 30amps, and/or for the 50amp to reach the "Y," and again, to reach the motorhome? Thank you, in advance, for your experienced insights and helpful advice. (The great news is that my husband is quite experienced with electical situations).
Oh I see. He wants to use the 2 30a recepticles at the post to power his 50a rv. The answer is, it depends on how they are wired. If wired the same the neutrals should cancel each other out. But, if not, or you get dramatic voltage drop on one and not the other ( like from an extension cord) it could overload the neutral and cause a fire. Personally I would use one 30 a and manage my power draw.
